Features
The Hum-Cancelling P-90 with Alnico Rods is the perfect pickup for a cleaner, more articulate P-90 pickup. It has an airiness and sparkle not found with adjustable pole pieces. It’s also great for those looking to balance a dark guitar. You’ll find that this pickup stays clean while still having a fat, beefy midrange and thickness commonly found with P-90 pickups.
While we refer to this pickup as a P-90, it’s not a traditional P-90. Traditional P-90s are known for their snarly midrange and stiffer top end. The Hum-Cancelling P-90 with Alnico Rods pickup, on the other hand, offers a softer, cleaner sound with the familiar ‘sparkle’. This pickup is available in all our Soapbar and Dogear versions, offering a unique alternative to traditional P-90s.

Sound
The Alnico Noiseless P-90 will sound like a regular P-90, but with a familiar Fender sparkle on the top-end. Clean and articulate when playing without distortion. You’ll find that the nuances of your playing will come out as this pickup “breathes” more than it’s compressed P-90 counterpart. With distortion, you’ll find a smooth, late breakup with a familiar Fender Strat-type tone. Expect a clear pick attack and a warmer midrange.
This midrange of this pickup is pronounced as well. You’ll find that the Alnico Noiseless P-90 will still sound fat and beefy!

If you're buying a set from us, all pickups will work together seamlessly. If you're buying a single pickup, all you need to worry about is Coil Direction.
To ensure your pickup will work, make sure you select multiple leads (2-Conductor, 3-Conductor, or 4-Conductor if available), or the 3-Wire modification so you can reverse the coil direction, if need be.

Calculate what shims you need!
- Select your cover height. Most cover heights are either 1/4" (Short Dogear) or 7/16" (Standard Dogear).
- Depress the Low E string at the highest fret
- With the Low E depressed, measure from the bottom of your pickup to the bottom of the string
- Input that measurement into the "String Height" box, and calculate!
Note: Shims are stackable and sandable. It's good practice to get more shim than you need, then sand it down to meet your measurement.

First off, wow! What a great pickup! If you’re looking for something between a P90 and JM style pickup, look no further. I wasn’t happy with the Seymour Duncan SP90’s which were too dark for my taste. I really prefer JM style pickups and true single coils overall, and was having trouble finding the right fit. I took a chance on these and they definitely hold up. I also have a set of the standard Fralin P90’s in a different guitar. I have to say they are both just absolutely excellent. Of course the standard P90’s have their own charm. They are a little grittier and have more have that P90 woof to them. These are much closer in sound to a Fender style single coil with added bonus of being hum-cancelling. I really don’t know how they do it, but I have yet to be disappointed with a Fralin pickup.

I just bought a used Les Paul Special with your noiseless P90’s with alnico rods. Ive never liked noiseless pickups before, I’d only heard Fender’s, they lacked something. I’ve had vintage Gibson P90’s from the 60’s and loved them and wanted a P90 that sounded like that, but I bought the guitar (online) and took a chance with the Fralin P90’s with alnico rods. While they are not the same as my old vintage P90’s, I have to say I really like them a lot. They have thier own thing going and they really work in the 2019 LP Special. I’d buy Fralin pickups myself after experiencing how good these one are. Thank you!

I just put an Alnico Noiseless P-90 in the neck position of my custom Warmoth build to mate with a 5% overwound Fralin Noiseless P-90 at the bridge. They both sound amazing alone and together. The Alnico at the neck adds more brilliance when using both pickups. Very happy camper.

Beautiful Sound
Awesome sounding pick-up. It’s like a crossbreed between an old-school P90 and a 50’s Fender Strat Pickup but with no noise. Put one in the Neck position of my G&L Fallout and it really sings.

I use a Fender TC-90 for worship at my church and I found the mid-range growl of the P90s in the guitar was a little too much for the sound I was going for with worship. I also wanted noiseless pickups because of all the stage noise from lights and other electrical equipment so I settled on the alnico rod noiseless P90s. I LOVE them! They fit perfectly in the mix and have some of the same characteristics as a standard P90 but with much better top-end sparkle.

HYPER REAL!
I have an Epiphone Century reissue. Fully hollow, 12″ radius, 25.5 in scale! It’s a weird combo that I LOVE. Stock pickup was “meh”. Played another big company’s hum-canceling dogear for a while. It was “fine” but muddy. Then I found this baby. It’s super sensitive (like a microphonic pickup but it’s not microphonic) and bright and silky. It sounds hyper-real and I LOVE it.

Beyond expectations.
My first time trying these pickups (bridge and neck) with a formulated expectation of Alnico polepiece tones, hum-canceling quietness, and P90 characteristics. After installing them, there are a lot more than I expected. The clarity, sparkle, and tone spectrum added to my initial expectations. I am glad I bought these.

Beyond expectations.
Was formulating an anticipated sonic expectation combining all the ingredients of Alnico polepieces, hum-cancelling arrangement and P90 characteristics. I was surprised after installing them. All that I anticipated were present but more !!! The top end crispness, the round mids, the clarity when played clean and the crunch when driven all adds up to how good these pickups are. -

Chimey, yet deep, and velvet across the mids. Simply, a very pretty sound in the neck position. In the neck position this will produce a big chimey round humless sound without a hint of mud. It’s remarkable, and sounds beautiful.

As Good as Their Reputation
Fralin pickups are widely respected, and as I have found out, for good reason. The stock P90 pickups in my Eastman Airline Mercury were noisy, weak on the high end and a bit mushy on the low end. My new Fralin Alnico P90s are completely quiet and have much more defined lows and high mids. My Airline Mercury is a new instrument and I have new inspiration. -

i bought a mustang p90 earlier this year. it was kind of an impulse buy, I’ve always wanted a p90 equipped guitar and the short scale seemed fun and different. I’ve had the most difficult time trying like/love this guitar. Anyway i was able to address issues with tuning stability, finding the string gauges that work for me and on to addressing my biggest issue, i stock bridge p90. I am a bridge pickup guy 100% of the time. I was really intrigued with the alnico rod p90s. I am more accustomed to the “fender like” single coil tone. my biggest complaint with the stock bridge p90 was the lack of note definition and difficulty taming the wild high end. i think its probably more common to put an alnico rod in the neck with the traditional p90 in the bridge but i am super happy with my decision to opt for the alnico rod bridge. I just got back from visiting my friends/ex-bandmates in arkansas. this was the first time id played the new guitar/pickup super loud in a band setting and i felt like my guitar was possessing me with with the holy spirit or something. lol. the harmonics, tone, touch sensitivity, i was blown away! sounded amazing live and recorded. the alnico rod hum-cancelling p90 does what its says it does. it turned a guitar i was struggling to like into my favorite guitar. Perfection
I installed a pair of these in a telecaster build I recently completed and couldn’t be happier with the choice. The neck position, which I constantly struggle with due to lack of clarity and definition, has become a favorite now. This pickup gives amazing clarity and top end in that position. The bridge is a cross between a great P90 with the high end ‘airy-ness’ of a good single-coil tele pickup, and is perfect for my application. I’m really thrilled with the outcome of this build and a significant reason is these pickups. I can’t recommend them enough. Quiet, responsive, and sound great with the volume knob rolled back a bit. I can’t imagine how they could be improved, honestly. -

At last! I’ve been trying to find a P-90-style neck pickup to match the 10% overwound Firebird bridge pickup in my black 1980 Les Paul Deluxe (my tribute to Neil Young) and had already tried two underwound single-coil P-90s, both of which sounded muddy and too strong, compared to the Firebird pickup. In the end, I gave in and asked for your advice and you recommended the hum-cancelling P-90 with alnico rods with 10% underwind, which fits in a standard P-90 cover. I really like the clean look of it without the pole-adjustment screws and the sound of it is a perfect match for the Firebird bridge pickup. It’s got a beautiful clear top end, which I couldn’t get from the single-coil P-90s I tried.
