Raised Centers For Bridge?

Choose this option if you want raised center pole piece magnets on your bridge. This helps with string balance on fingerboards with a radius of less than 9.5 inches.

Neck-Sized Bridge

In some cases, Fender Mexican Jazz Bass will have an equal-sized Neck & Bridge pickup. We can make this for you. Measure your pickups, and if they are the same, check this box!

Notice

Due to the nature of Raw Nickel, Raw Nickel may contain slight cosemetic defects or abrasions.

Recommendation

We recommend using 2-Conductor With Shield Lead when purchasing a single pickup. 2-Conductor lead allows you to reverse the phase should you have phase issues. Learn More

Lead Time

A Lead Time of 2-3 Weeks is just an estimate. Lead Times are subject to change depending on the current shop capacity and size of the order. We will always try to complete your order quicker than the stated lead time.

Want to learn more about our P-J Set? Here's all the information you'll need:

P-J Set FEATURES:

The Fralin P-J Set includes our Stock P-Bass pickup, and our noiseless and rich Split Jazz Bridge. This set is noiseless in all positions, with a fat and rich tone. Our Split Jazz Bridge has a Left-Right coil design, which sounds better than stacked coils. The Fralin P-J Set gives you more snarl on your bridge and deep lows on your neck.

All of our bass pickups feature hand-built bobbins and hand-wound clarity. Our manufacturing process allows us to achieve unparalleled quality control. This P-J Set consists of local fiberboard and USA-Made Magnets. We wind each pickup by hand, one at a time. Each pickup is wound using our proprietary “Sectioning” technique. This gives the pickup a sweet, clear tone. Finally, we wax-pot the pickup to preserve the pickup and prevent microphonics.

Features:

  • Original Fender specifications, with modern output
  • Overwound Noiseless Bridge for noiseless operation across all positions
  • USA-made Alnico 5 Magnets for optimal tonal balance and output
  • Hand-wound with our “Sectioning” technique for unique, dynamic tone
  • Hand-built fiberboard Bobbins for unrivaled quality control
  • 10-Year Warranty on manufacturing defects

Sound

The Fralin P-J Set is the best sounding P-J Pickup Set you can buy. Alnico 5 Magnets and our hand-wound coils give this P-J Set an impressive range and articulation. Expect deep, rich lows and a top-end sparkle – all across a warm and fat midrange. The P-Bass pickup has an even balance across highs and lows. The compensated Split Jazz Bridge focuses more on a thicker midrange snarl. The volume is equal across all positions. The Fralin P-J Set will breathe life into your bass by extending its range and dynamics.

    Hey Billy,

I would check our dimensions to make sure our pickups will fit your bass first. If that works, check your Fingerboard Radius - that will tell you whether or not you need Raised Centers.

  8. Is it possible to combine this combo P-J set with one additional J pickup to fit inside of an early 90s Fender Urge (Stu Hamm Signature) 32" bass? Sorry if this is a dumb question. But, I'm totally new to the concept of upgrading pickups....

Hey Eric, Sure - I would go with a Jazz Bass neck instead of two Jazz Bass Bridges, as the strings taper in a bit.

  10. I am replacing a P/J set on an Ibanez bass with a pre amp. I want to eliminate the pre amp . I would like to know if I should go with a volume, blend, and tone or just add a master volume to a 2 volume 1 tone set up. I think there are 4 or 5 knobs on the current set up. So I have plenty of space. My go to bass is a Warwick corvette.. so I am looking for some crunch and warmth…

Hey Karl, you can't go wrong with a simple Master Volume, Master Tone and a Pan Pot to blend between the two (we do not sell these). Tonally speaking, if you're looking for a warmer tone, go for our 5% overwind. (If you don't see it on the order page, use our "Notes" field on our checkout screen to request.

When I find a Bass that feels good in my hands, sometimes the electronics are subpar. I’ve used Fralin pickups before and have been thrilled with the results! My most recent project was upgrading a Squire Jaguar Bass with the Fralin PJ pickups. The Precision neck pickup added a LOT of horsepower! The Jazz Bridge pickup adds clarity when I blend it in. I realize I put more $ in electronics than the guitar cost, but now it’s Exactly the way I want it to sound! I’m a Happy Customer!
