Sound
Woodstocks sparkle and sound open. These pickups sound big and full, with an even balance of Bass, Middle, and Treble, clean or dirty. Furthermore, the tone cuts through with distortion – while remaining very dynamic and thick.
Expect a precise low-end and an emphasized acute attack on the treble. Single notes cut through with ease, while chords have an excellent string-to-string definition.
Our manufacturing process allows us to achieve unparalleled quality control. Our Woodstocks consist of locally-stamped fiberboard and USA-Made Alnico 5 Magnets. We wind each pickup by hand, one at a time. We produce our bobbins in small batches and wind each pickup using our proprietary “Sectioning” technique, which gives the pickup a sweet, bright tone.
Finally, we wax-pot the pickup to preserve the pickup and prevent microphonics for years to come!

Hi, are there any sound demos available for the Woodstock? I'm having a hard time deciding whether to get the Real 54 or the Woodstock neck pickup for my guitar that have quite hot, dark pickups in it.

Hey Aadit,
As it turns out, we don't have any sound clips at the moment - we apologize for this inconvenience. The Woodstock pickups definitely have a good amount of brightness to them and sound a bit more like a traditional Strat Pickup. The Real 54 has a softer attack and a bit more "chime" on the top-end. Keep in mind, we have our 30-day exchange policy. If you don't love it, we'll swap it for something you will love. - Tyler

The Woodstock pickups will fit your guitar perfectly, but they will have a left-handed stagger. Other than that, the Baseplate adds a touch of power and bass to your bridge pickup. It's a removable mod and works really well. - Tyler

Hey Santiago, we can make this work for you! However, we make this left-handed by default (for right-handed instruments). To achieve what you want, request a "right-handed stagger" in the "notes" field on the checkout screen. We'll make it custom for you.
What do you mean when you ask 'right handed or left handed ' when ordering a pickup

On certain models, you need a left-handed magnet stagger if you're a left-handed player.
It looks like real 54s and Woodstock winds are the same, but the difference is the magnet (a3/A5) and the Lefty G magnet stagger, yes? Can I get a set of 54s with regular/standard stagger for a right handed guitar in A5? Or said a different way, can I get a set of Woodstock’s but with a righty vs lefty magnet stagger?

I ordered my woodstock pickups overwound to 6.3,6.3,6.8 with normal pole pieces and a metal baseplate and they are just perfect. Lindy called me personally after seeing the notes in my order and took the time to really understand what I wanted. Bottom line is they can make just about anything you want so give them a call and get some great pickups from a really reasonable price.
Just put a set of the Woodstocks in a 90s ’57 RI Strat and it has completely transformed the guitar. The original pickups were pretty bland and early on I had put some Texas Specials in it but over time never got out of the guitar what I wanted. I could never find any mojo. These Fralin Woodstocks are beyond belief. Robust, clear and beautifully nuanced Strat tone. Amazing even straight into the amp (a RI Blackface Twin in my case). All I can say is… wow, wow, wow! Thank you Lindy Fralin, this is the Strat tone I’ve been looking for all these years. Btw, I added the baseplate, blender, and treble bleed that really add to it as well.
I have a fairly new USA strat and bought the set of these in the cream color. I use a modeler a lot of the time, Fractal Audio, and I have been blown away with these. I have amps and this plugged straight into a clean amp is phenomenal. For example, one preset I happen to use a lot is called “50 Watt Plexi” and these in the neck position with the volume backed off about 1/3 of the way is “Wind Cries Mary” perfection. Boost the guitar volume and its a nice tight and punchy lead tone. I own a bunch of guitars and these are the only Fralin pickups I own but I am probably going to swap out pickups on five or six of my other instruments!
Wow! Now I know the difference!
I was playing around with some Hendrix backing tracks, with Woodstock in the neck position…Good tube am… Absolutely awesome!
I put these wonderful pickups in an early nighties USA deluxe Strat, that I bought up here in Canada a longtime ago.
I have been shopping for some hand wound pickups, made by someone who cares about music, for some time now… Lindy Fralin cares, really cares, about music.
Hendrix would have been proud to put a set of these in his guitar, of this I have no doubt.
It’s the first time I got to (actually) sound like Hendrix. LOL
Amazing pickup, thanks again Mr. Fralin.
I have a jimmy Hendrix voodoo strat I don’t play it a lot because the pickups sounds like crap my wife got it for me for Christmas 3 years ago she paid 900 for a jimmy Hendrix voodoo that has low output you can call me at 13364197183 I don’t have the money to buy pickups right now I was going to sell it but my wife told if i sell it she will never buy me a guitar again
