Sound & Video

Woodstocks sparkle and sound open. These pickups sound big and full, with an even balance of Bass, Middle, and Treble, clean or dirty. Furthermore, the tone cuts through with distortion – while remaining very dynamic and thick.

Expect a precise low-end and an emphasized acute attack on the treble. Single notes cut through with ease, while chords have an excellent string-to-string definition.

Our manufacturing process allows us to achieve unparalleled quality control. Our Woodstocks consist of locally-stamped fiberboard and USA-Made Alnico 5 Magnets. We wind each pickup by hand, one at a time. We produce our bobbins in small batches and wind each pickup using our proprietary “Sectioning” technique, which gives the pickup a sweet, bright tone.

Finally, we wax-pot the pickup to preserve the pickup and prevent microphonics for years to come!

Installation Instructions

This install guide covers the installation of our Strat pickups in a standard Stratocaster with a 5-Way Blade Switch. For other installation diagrams, check out our Wiring Diagrams page for all of our Stratocaster wiring configurations, from SSS, HSS, and more.

Most installation jobs are simple enough to perform yourself, but if you are inexperienced or uncomfortable with wiring, take your guitar to an experienced luthier for a professional installation.

Wire Colors

Here's where each color wire goes for each Stratocaster set we sell:

  • White = Hot (to switch)
  • Black = Ground (solder to the casing of the volume pot)

The image below features different colors for visually tracing the wires, but here's how to wire it up to the switch:

Steps Required For Installation

  1. Remove the strings and pickguard from the guitar
  2. Unsolder each pickup lead from the switch and ground
  3. Once all wires are unsoldered, use a phillips head screwdriver to remove each pickup from the existing pickguard
  4. Once all pickups are uninstalled, install each new pickup carefully. Damage can occur from rough handling, or the pickup's mounting screws "scraping" the coil wire. Be extra careful on this step and take your time.
  5. Solder each new wire according to the instructions above, and trim any excess
  6. Replace the pickguard and test by plugging the guitar into an amp, and performing the "tap test" with a metal screwdriver to test each pickup's output
  7. Replace the strings and set the pickup height according to this article here.

Pickup Dimensions

Important Note:
While we design these pickup dimensions as accurately as possible, they are not meant for routing templates.
Fralin Strat Sizing & Dimensions

Our Strat® replacements are standard Stratocaster sizing and spacing. All string spacings are 52mm.

Product FAQ's

  • Why the Tall G stagger?

    See above!

  • Can I get this pickup in a Right Handed stagger?

No – if you’re looking for a right-handed stagger pickup that sounds the same, check out our Vintage Hots.

"Fralin pickups are the perfect combination of classic tones and innovative designs, which really suits my style. I've been using them since the 90's, and every Fralin pickup I've tried has been "10/10, no notes". "

  1. David DesRoches

I opted to replace the stock pickups in my new PRS SE Silver Sky with Lindy’s Woodstocks. The stock pickups sounded ok, but I wanted more character/depth/StratMojo.

The Woodstock’s nailed it for me. They are louder, more complex, have better highs and lows, and deliver the best in Strat tone one could ask for.

They arrived promptly, installed easily, and it’s been joyous having them. Would buy again in an instant.

  2. John Klein

5 Stars. The pickguard and pickups are great. The set of Woodstock pickups are a 100% improvement over what was previously in the guitar. It is a ’68 Japanese reissue black Stratocaster with a maple cap fingerboard, a total Jimi vibe. These pickups were the missing ingredient. Extremely happy with my purchase. Highly recommended.

  3. Thomas

Fitts perfectly to my Fender Strat plus. Far better than stock pick-ups.
Fralin Pus best I‘ve ever played.

  4. Alex

They’re great sounding pickups , now I’m trying’em on different strat bodies with different woods and bridges , just another world to discover.

  5. Russell

I ordered my woodstock pickups overwound to 6.3,6.3,6.8 with normal pole pieces and a metal baseplate and they are just perfect. Lindy called me personally after seeing the notes in my order and took the time to really understand what I wanted. Bottom line is they can make just about anything you want so give them a call and get some great pickups from a really reasonable price.

  6. Pat

I have a jimmy Hendrix voodoo strat I don’t play it a lot because the pickups sounds like crap my wife got it for me for Christmas 3 years ago she paid 900 for a jimmy Hendrix voodoo that has low output you can call me at 13364197183 I don’t have the money to buy pickups right now I was going to sell it but my wife told if i sell it she will never buy me a guitar again
