Overview
Dig deep into the bass with our Fralin Bass VI model! Our version of the Bass VI features Jaguar® looks, an optimized magnet stagger for wound string guitars, and a cleaner, more vintage output. Additionally, we make them the way Lindy likes them – with a reverse-wound Bridge, giving you hum-canceling in the middle position. Lastly, we offer two outputs – our stock output is designed for a bright, jangly tone perfect for spaghetti western music. Our 5% overwind is perfect for those looking for a thicker, fatter tone with more output and a quicker breakup. With a simple installation, you can rest assured Lindy Fralin’s Bass VI will drop right into any Bass VI guitar; no modification is needed.
It starts here: Our manufacturing process allows us to achieve unparalleled quality control. Our Bass VI Pickups consist of local fiberboard and USA-Made Alnico 5 Magnets. We wind each pickup by hand, one at a time. Each pickup is wound using our proprietary “Sectioning” technique. This gives the pickup a sweet, clear tone. Finally, we wax-pot the pickup to preserve the pickup and prevent microphonics.
Sound
We offer two voicings of our Bass VI pickups – Stock and +5%. The Stock output features a bright, jangly tone that is perfect for that old-school vibe Lindy loves. If you’re looking for less jangle and more output, our +5% output features a thicker tone with tapered highs and a warmer midrange. Either option you choose, these pickups are loud! We designed our Bass VI pickups to be pretty high output (6.3K Neck, 7K Bridge) so they’ll sound great with a factory-installed 1Meg volume pot, but players seeking a warmer tone will like the tone on a 500K pot.

Bass VI FAQ's
General FAQs
Here are quick answers to common questions we get:
-
What Ohm Readings does your Bass VI have?
Navigate to our Tech Specs tab for complete Ohm Readings and more useful information.
-
Will this pickup fit my instrument?
Check our "Sizing" tab for the size of the pickup. No Sizing tab? Check under the product image gallery for dimensions.
-
Is your Lead Time of 1 Week accurate?
It really depends on the shop capacity at the moment, and the size of your order. Feel free to give us a call for an accurate lead time. We always try to underpromise and overdeliver.
-
What pickup height do you recommend setting your Bass VIs to?
Our recommended Pickup Height is 1/8" (3.175mm) on the Bass Side and 1/16"( 1.5875mm) on the Treble Side. Measure by holding the corresponding side down at its highest fret and measure from the bottom of the string to the top of the pole piece.
Installed these on my Squier CV Bass VI about a month ago and am very happy with them. Clarity and definition are plain to hear and a big upgrade (and the stock pups aren’t bad!). Real nice “vintage” tones. Each pickup has a distinct character – a good flat thud from the neck, a bit brighter from the middle, & baritone guitar tones from the bridge. And they might be the quietest single coils I’ve ever owned – the hum is practically non-existent. Highly recommended!
