Sound & Video
There are a few ways to cancel out the hum in a pickup. Some manufacturers feature a “stacked” coil design, which we believe leads to a lifeless and dull tone that lacks character. Lindy’s Hum Cancelling P90 features a Side-by-side coil design that is not stacked and attains a more accurate P90 tone that actually sounds like a P90.
Expect a vintage-voiced P90 tone, with a slightly thicker midrange and rounder highs. This pickup will undoubtedly push your amp hard and provide that snarly midrange and top-end “bark” we have come to expect from a P90. Suitable for many music styles, this pickup can scream and clean up nicely for jazz or blues.
Going even further, you can customize your tone by selecting Overwound and Underwound options. By overwinding a pickup, the tone gets thicker, darker, and dirtier. By underwinding a pickup, the pickup gets clearer and more articulate.

Hum-Cancelling P90s consists of 100% USA-Made parts, including a precision injection mold, USA-Made Steel Screws, and Neodymium magnets. We use aggressive USA-Made Neodymium magnets to make this model scream. Each bobbin is carefully inspected and cleaned before winding.
We wind each pickup by hand, one at a time, using our proprietary “Sectioning” technique, which gives the pickup a sweet, clear tone. Finally, we wax-pot the pickup to prevent microphonics and preserve the pickup for years to come.

If you're buying a set from us, all pickups will work together seamlessly. If you're buying a single pickup, all you need to worry about is Coil Direction.
To ensure your pickup will work, make sure you select multiple leads (2-Conductor, 3-Conductor, or 4-Conductor if available), or the 3-Wire modification so you can reverse the coil direction, if need be.

Dogear Shim Height Calculator
Calculate what shims you need!
- Select your cover height. Most cover heights are either 1/4" (Short Dogear) or 7/16" (Standard Dogear).
- Depress the Low E string at the highest fret
- With the Low E depressed, measure from the bottom of your pickup to the bottom of the string
- Input that measurement into the "String Height" box, and calculate!
Note: Shims are stackable and sandable. It's good practice to get more shim than you need, then sand it down to meet your measurement.

I fitted a +5% hum-cancelling bridge P90 to my SG Special and I love the sound of it (P90 without the hum!), although it is now not quite as loud as the neck P90, which is also from Lindy F.

I am new to P90 but I have been a tone nerd for 35 years. Played many P90 guitars, but never owned one. Now I do. Based on reviews I went with this pick up. And I am very very happy I did. It sounds amazing. Lots of clarity but still with this wonderful P90 punch. I have spend some time to adjust the hight and polepieces a bit, but specially learned to work with both the volume and tone control. They respond so well to both, and you can get a lot of tons out of it. The real magic is that its musical and inspiring. Great great pick ups – and a huge bonus is hat they er hum free – and they really are. No noise, just pure beautiful tone, that can behave very nicely and turn in to a rock monster if you ask them. Total respect to Fralin for developing these pick ups.

I got one of these to replace the stock P90 in the neck position of my Reverend Double Agent OG, and I adore it! It sounds absolutely killer, and I am really happy with it. This pickup has that P90 tone, and is noiseless to boot. It doesn’t lose it’s character or sound weak with gain/pedals, and works wonderfully with my use case.
I ran into two issues, one of which was my fault and the other being a ?minor inconvenience. I ordered this pickup with 50mm string spacing, but I wish I could have ordered it with 48mm string spacing, which isn’t an option offered on this model. This would allow the outer two pole pieces to sit more in line with the low E and high E strings in the neck position, which would be more ideal. Next, when I initially installed it, I did so as it came, with the black and ground wires being tied together and the white wire going to the pickup selector. This caused the P90 to be out of phase with the bridge position humbucker when the two were used together, so I had to resolder the connections the correct way. This easily could have been fixed by me testing the pickup before I installed it, but I was so excited to get it installed that I just skipped that part!
All in all, this is an awesome option if you love the P90 sound but don’t like the noise that comes along with it. I would highly recommend this pickup to anyone looking for a new P90

This is my first experience with the “ noiseless” P90’s and I could not be happier!! I get all of the growl of a vintage P90 with zero noise. I even requested the 5% underwound trying for that true vintage sound and was rewarded 10 times over. I highly recommend these pickups. Could not be happier

Love my new Hum Canceling P90’s
I’ve always loved the sound of P90 pickups. I’ve never liked the noise that you have to put up with. These are game changers for me. The neck pickup has that buttery warmth that I love. The bridge pickup has that nasty bite with the clarity for leads that I adore. All of this, without the noisy distraction, means I couldn’t be happier!

No Buzz, Airy Dynamics
I’m recommending this pickup with a 100% positive endorsement. The hum canceling technology works like a charm, and it sounds essentially identical to the Gibson P90 it replaced. A word about the “essentially identical” language – I own a 2017 Gibson R9, with stock Custombuckers. I also own a 2014 Gibson R8, also with Custombuckers. These two guitars are identical, except for the slight difference in the neck shapes. Same exact electronics. And yet, they sound noticeably different. The Custombuckers in the R9 have more output, less bass, and more zing on the top end. The ones in the R8 have lower output, more bass, and less treble. These are supposed to be identical Gibson pickups…one set from 2014 and one from 2017. So, if you’re looking for a dead-accurate match to your existing hummy, buzzy P90, remember that even in identical guitars, identical stock pickups are going to have varying tone and output. In my case, the Fralin noiseless P90, in “stock wind,” has just the tiniest fraction lower output than the Gibson pickup from my 2014 Wildwood Spec R6, identical bass and mids, and no loss of sparkle on the top end. As I say, nearly identical. And although noiseless, it still does that P90 thing, where you turn the volume down to 8, and it gets that different tone. My experience with Fralin pickups in the couple of guitars I have played that had them, is that they are generally on the “airy” side, as opposed to the midrangey hammer response you get in some brands. If airy and dynamic are your preference, you’ll love this noiseless P90. In my use, I roll the tone back to 7 when using it in a high gain situation. Then in cleaner mode, with the tone back up to full, it’s all chimey and sparkly, just how you would want. As a bonus, the Fralin company is nothing but great when it comes to customer relations. So, if you’re looking for a noiseless P90, buy this one without hesitation.

American beauty
I went with a stock hum-cancelling P90 bridge pickup and turned my inexpensive Epiphone LP Junior into a TONE beast! I had already replaced both pots and the jack, and this pickup was the final and most critical component. The follow-up emails with installation tips were really helpful. I went with the traditional Gibson shielded wire and it went into my guitar easy-peezy. Great website, easy ordering, and an awesome, sassy pickup that is SO quiet! I work for a small business in Southern California and wanted to support another great small American business- Lindy Fralin and his team of pros! My new P90 was clearly made with love and transformed a guitar I thought of selling many times into a guitar I can’t put down. Thank you!

Another stellar pickup! Just had a 5% underwound noiseless P90 installed in a Tele neck position. Tried the guitar out in the builder’s shop and everyone had to stop and listen – tonal bliss – and smiles all around.

I picked up a Heritage H530 this past year. It was beautiful. Played and felt unbelievable. But the Lollar p90s (which are held in high regard) were simply unusable (I do experience a bit more noise in my home than elsewhere). I had my tech install Fralin Hum-cancelling P90s. Over the past year, the Heritage has overwhelmingly become my favorite guitar I’ve ever owned for virtually every style. Whether playing worship/ambient music, jazz, funk, blues, or rock, the pickups shine. The pickups are beautifully balanced, have a great clarity, and work well with varying degrees of gain. While these pickups are not cheap, I would claim they are worth every cent. Brilliantly dynamic, cleaning up beautifully, and so versatile.

The hum-cancelling P90 from pickup guru Lindy Fralin solved a huge problem I’ve had for years. A P90 sounds unique unto itself, but under certain high-gain settings, the hum can be overpowering. Problem solved! It delivers the thick P90 sound with no buzz or hum…PLUS the aged nickel cover (available as an option) perfectly compliments the natural play wear of the guitar I dropped it into.
