Sound & Video
There are a few ways to cancel out the hum in a pickup. Some manufacturers feature a “stacked” coil design, which we believe leads to a lifeless and dull tone that lacks character. Lindy’s Hum Cancelling P90 features a Side-by-side coil design that is not stacked and attains a more accurate P90 tone that actually sounds like a P90.
Expect a vintage-voiced P90 tone, with a slightly thicker midrange and rounder highs. This pickup will undoubtedly push your amp hard and provide that snarly midrange and top-end “bark” we have come to expect from a P90. Suitable for many music styles, this pickup can scream and clean up nicely for jazz or blues.
Going even further, you can customize your tone by selecting Overwound and Underwound options. By overwinding a pickup, the tone gets thicker, darker, and dirtier. By underwinding a pickup, the pickup gets clearer and more articulate.
Our manufacturing process allows us to achieve unparalleled quality control.
Hum-Cancelling P90s consists of 100% USA-Made parts, including a precision injection mold, USA-Made Steel Screws, and Neodymium magnets. We use aggressive USA-Made Neodymium magnets to make this model scream. Each bobbin is carefully inspected and cleaned before winding.
We wind each pickup by hand, one at a time, using our proprietary “Sectioning” technique, which gives the pickup a sweet, clear tone. Finally, we wax-pot the pickup to prevent microphonics and preserve the pickup for years to come.

Here's how we wind and magnetize our pickups:
If you're buying a set from us, all pickups will work together seamlessly. If you're buying a single pickup, all you need to worry about is Coil Direction.
To ensure your pickup will work, make sure you select multiple leads (2-Conductor, 3-Conductor, or 4-Conductor if available), or the 3-Wire modification so you can reverse the coil direction, if need be.

Dogear Shim Height Calculator
Calculate what shims you need!
- Select your cover height. Most cover heights are either 1/4" (Short Dogear) or 7/16" (Standard Dogear).
- Depress the Low E string at the highest fret
- With the Low E depressed, measure from the bottom of your pickup to the bottom of the string
- Input that measurement into the "String Height" box, and calculate!
Note: Shims are stackable and sandable. It's good practice to get more shim than you need, then sand it down to meet your measurement.

"Lindy Fralin nailed everything I love about vintage Strat pickups a long time ago and that’s why I’ve kept them in some of my favorite guitars all these years. Truly inspirational in the studio, on the road and stirring up the neighbors at home."

“Whether I’m playing on Broadway, with my original band, in a cabaret, or a film score orchestra, my Fralin pickups always keep up with whatever gets thrown my way. Surviving in the scene presents so many demanding challenges and Lindy’s designs check all the boxes for me. Whether it be the split blades in my Strats and Teles or the 5% underwind hum cancelling p90’s in my Novo, they deliver the mail every single time. As they say… make a joyful noise. Reviews We Worked Hard For, and Are Proud Of
My Novo came with Fralin p90s which sounded great but hummed too much for my liking. I swapped in the fralin hum cancelling p90s and they sound fantastic and are dead silent. I have heard some say you lose too much tone going to hum cancelling and that the regular p90s are best, that may be true for other brands but these fralins sound nearly identical and are way more practical and usable with the lack of 60 cycle.
I absolutely adore these pickups. I’ve owned servers pairs in many different guitars and they never disappoint. I like to get the 5% overwind for a little extra punch but over all I could not recommend these more!
Many moons ago , I had a 1969 SG with P-90's and loved the sound of that guitar . Unfortunately, I didn't love the HUM that came along with them, and sold it . I've been chasing that sound ever since. ( I have a large stable of guitars ) I just recently decided to give the Fralin Noiseless P-90's a try and installed them in a custom S-style guitar I built !
To say I was immediately blown away by how phenomenal they sound would be a huge understatement ! And not a whisper of hum at all ! These are amazing pickups and dealing with Lindy and the folks at Fralin was a total pleasure !
I absolutely LOVE my no hum P90's!! I ordered a full set with the neck being a standard wind and the bridge with the +5% wind. I put them in my 57 custom shop reissue and they are absolutely perfect!! The extra grind on the +5 is exactly what I wanted, without it being overbearing.
Tone for days and the whole point being NO HUM. Completely quiet! There are so many tones in these pickups just by riding your volume control, as well as the out of phase tones in the middle position. It's a joy to keep finding useable and truly fantastic tones with each move of the volume dial!!!
I cannot recommend these enough as they have become my absolute go to P90 pickup!!
When I ordered my 5% overwound P90s, I knew they would be great. However when I received them, installed them in my TMG Scarlett Nigel Hendroff Signature, plugged it in, and hit the first chord, the only word that describes the level of Greatness is Magic. Pure Magic. Completely changed the tone pallet of the guitar, and instantly improved it all around.
These aren’t the only Fralin pickups I have, and they certainly won’t be the last. Thanks so much.
Love my new Hum Canceling P90’s I’ve always loved the sound of P90 pickups. I’ve never liked the noise that you have to put up with. These are game changers for me. The neck pickup has that buttery warmth that I love.
The bridge pickup has that nasty bite with the clarity for leads that I adore. All of this, without the noisy distraction, means I couldn’t be happier!
P90's you need to get Mr. Fralin was kind enough to make time for me. We spoke of the guitar type and wiring. After discussing the request.
We came to an agreement on the overall construction. Hard to put into several sentences how dynamic and tonal flexible these P90's are. I've owned many types of pickups. Noiseless, Vintage, Singles, Hums, Active...
I have to say these are a whole other monster...and I mean a tone Monster. You can get almost any tone you are looking for out of a P90 type pickup when you learn to adjust the height and poll pieces for your guitar. Just amazing. Thank you Mr.
Fralin.
Mind Blown! Awesome Pickup for my 2019 LP Junior! I previously had it stock, then with a humbucker, and now this Fralin Hum-Cancelling P90 [I did the +5% version]. This one really goes when you turn it up, esp with an overdrive.
Even better with a MK II tonebender Fuzz! But it still cleans up nicely when you roll off the volume--makes for a smooth, sweet, and creamy "Blue Sky" by ABB. It is the Classic P90 sound but uplifted. Indeed the 60-cycle hum is eliminated!!
I will admit that I was a bit skeptical, but definitely the best thing I could do for my Junior. Worth every penny. Thank you Fralin Team! 6 stars!
My Ideal P90’s Let me first say that Lindy, you are a true genius! I got a PRS Korina McCarty Soapbar several years ago, love the guitar (it weighs 6.2 pounds) and it feels so comfortable to play. But, I felt the stock P90’s just didn’t suit my taste. After a lot of research, I decided to give Lindy Fralin Pickups a call and actually got Lindy on the phone.
After telling Lindy what I was looking for, he suggested the Hum-Cancelling P90 set. I ordered them and installed them in the McCarty. WOW, it’s like I have a new guitar! The sound is exactly what I was looking for, clear, articulate, crisp.
Playing the Hum-Canceling P90 equipped McCarty through my Princeton Reverb is very rewarding with the tone I never thought possible! Thanks, Lindy!!
Amazing as usual! Perfect blend of humbucker and single coil tones without the hum! I love these pickups. Very articulate and clear but also nasty at the same time.
Beautiful clean tones and classic overdriven tones! I’m a Fralin pickups addict. I am blessed to have 4 great guitars and having Fralins in each of them make them 4 Absolutely Awesome guitars! Thanks to Lindy and the Whole team.
Each person is so important and they are all what makes this such a great company!!

Like them a lot. My P90s are in a telecaster with a 4-way switch. The bridge 2C series 2C and parallel positions sound great. Neck position sounds a little muddy and I’m working on that. Playing through a deluxe reverb clone with this setup is really good.

Rated 5 out of 5Amazing upgrade! Hello Lindy, Swapping out the original Gibson P-90 with your hum canceling one has taken my Les Paul Jr to a whole new level. It is now completely silent so I can focus on the nuances of the tone of the pickup. It sounds warmer, richer and grittier than ever before! I can’t thank you enough for the improvement in the tone your pickup has brought to my guitar! See you again, hopefully soon.

Welk, i bought the humless P90 Dogear for to try to build a cheap and good guitar which can take some serious beating during live shows.
So i bought a brand new 230,- (!!!) Harley Benton Junior Double cut and slapoed in this P90. With shocking results!
I chose the guitar because ist is all mahony with a set neck. With the Fralin PU ist is my best sounding guitar now and that‘s hillarious as i own an der Gibson 94 Dc, an Gibson 61 Reissue SG and an Duesenberg Dragster which i love to death!
Success? Hell yes!!! This won‘t be the last Fralin for me to get, thats for sure!
Trank you!!! -

Just finished installing a +5% neck hum canceling P90 in my 1955 Gibson es 225 – single pickup guitar.
The original gibson pickup had a cracked top and was not sounding quite right… Probably need to get it repaired.
And middle position on this guitar is not quite neck or bridge… New electronics and all [so the original stays original and in a box]
Used 500k for vol and 250k for tone with 22 cap… So +5% – Wow it sounds marvelous …
can be clear and throaty – gritty to chimey and jazzy and mellow. Makes the ’55 sound like dynamite!
Thanks Lindy! -

Rated 5 out of 5Absolutely unreal! The luthier that put them in for me fell in love with them. He called the bridge pickup “Filthy!” in the best way possible. The 2019 Les Paul I put them just came alive. Kudos!

I received a set of these Hum Canceling P90’s in my Novo Serus J a few months ago. Honestly, at first …. I was really kinda bummed that Dennis and crew had stopped using the Amalfitano P90’s in their guitars as I was addicted to them. They were the best P90’s that I had ever owned/played in my short electric guitar playing career(8 years). I figured worst case scenario, I could sell the Fralin’s and contact Jerry to get a set of his made to go in the Novo if I ended up not liking them as much …… BUT ….. I don’t see that EVER happening. These Hum Canceling P90’s flat out ROCK and are dead silent!!! That was my only complaint ever about P90’s was the noise and how Lindy managed to pull off a silent P90 that still sounds like and reacts like a P90 is suppose to is beyond me …. but I am very grateful he did! This has turned into my #1 electric and honestly the first guitar I’ve owned that I don’t see myself changing a single thing out electronic wise(which is normally the first thing I do to a guitar). So, a big THANK YOU goes out to all at the Fralin company!!! Job well done!!!

All I can say is WOW, what a difference. I have a 2015 Gibson Les Paul Special DC with P-90’s stock. I thought it sounded pretty decent. I purchased the hum canceling p-90’s stock. Like I said WOW I pushed my pedal board to the side couldn’t believe how much better it sounded. Blown away. So worth what I paid. Great customer service. Top shelf

Rated 5 out of 5This is everything I wanted!
I’m probably not the traditional Fralin customer. I play punk with lots of gain, but I care about my tone. This pickup ticks all of the boxes. I don’t have the annoying feedback and buzz from my old P-90. I also got the over wind so the breakup is much sooner meaning I don’t have to run as much gain. It is still a P-90, so I cut through the mix like I’m playing a Telecaster through a Twin Reverb on 10. Thanks so much for the amazing product. I will be getting one of your PAF’s next. -
James ReedRated 5 out of 5
Lindy thank you for this pickup. I have your pickups in all my guitars and these P90s might just be my favorite. I don’t know what your secret is but to anyone that hasn’t heard: image the best sounding P90 guitar from one your of favorite albums and then remove the hum, that’s it. I replaced the stock P90s in a Gibson SG with these about a year ago and I still can’t put the guitar down. Every time I play it, I get a big smile on my face from the sound coming out of these pickups. As with all Fralin pickups, there is no sweet spot on your volume or tone controls, the sweet spot is everywhere. You can’t get a bad sound out these pickups. If you’re thinking about trying these pickups, just do it. You won’t regret it. One recommendation: try these out with a treble cut and bass cut tone circuit like on a G&L or Reverend.

Rated 4 out of 5Overall, good!
While I feel maybe a little something was lost from switching from the classic “noisy ” P90 that was in my Les Paul before. I am overall pleased. The small compromise in sound is not enough to make me want to go back to the old ones. It sounds very close. When I a/b it with a normal Gibson PAF the difference is huge. More bite, clarity and versatile tone. Equally suited for “Tele” style country picking, heavier rock, rockabilly, and blues. These pickups allow me to be all over the map stylistically without switching guitars and the best part is they are as quiet as a PAF.

I could not be any happier with my Hum-Cancelling P90s!!! I have never owned P90s that did not hum. Some worse that others. I can turn my amp up and there is no hum at all. That is great….but don’t forget why we like the P90s….that punchy growl is there. They sound awesome!
