Tonal Graph for Hum-Cancelling P90:
The tone graph below for our Hum-Cancelling P90 features Lows, Midrange, Highs, and general Output.
Attack: Stiff & Percussive
There are a few ways to cancel out the hum in a pickup. Some manufacturers feature a “stacked” coil design, which we believe leads to a lifeless and dull tone that lacks character. Lindy’s Hum Cancelling P90 features a Side-by-side coil design that is not stacked and attains a more accurate P90 tone that actually sounds like a P90.
Expect a vintage-voiced P90 tone, with a slightly thicker midrange and rounder highs. This pickup will undoubtedly push your amp hard and provide that snarly midrange and top-end “bark” we have come to expect from a P90. Suitable for many music styles, this pickup can scream and clean up nicely for jazz or blues.
Going even further, you can customize your tone by selecting Overwound and Underwound options. By overwinding a pickup, the tone gets thicker, darker, and dirtier. By underwinding a pickup, the pickup gets clearer and more articulate.
Speaking of versatility, are you looking for a jazzier tone? We can use Alnico 6 Magnets to taper the highs even more and offer you a softer sound. Are you searching for a cleaner and more Fender sparkle? Check out our Alnico Rod Version that features Alnico Rods for a Fender-type sparkle.
Our manufacturing process allows us to achieve unparalleled quality control.
Listen to our friend Mike Hermans play our Hum Cancelling P90, only in a soapbar format.
Hum-Cancelling P90s consists of 100% USA-Made parts, including a precision injection mold, USA-Made Steel Screws, and Neodymium magnets. We use aggressive USA-Made Neodymium magnets to make this model scream. Each bobbin is carefully inspected and cleaned before winding.
We wind each pickup by hand, one at a time, using our proprietary “Sectioning” technique, which gives the pickup a sweet, clear tone. Finally, we wax-pot the pickup to prevent microphonics and preserve the pickup for years to come.

After purchasing a MIC Epiphone Casino a few months ago and loving the guitar but not the electronics I decided to gut it. I am a 62 years old playing for over 50 years with 27 guitars from 14 different brands. I have built or customized numerous Fenders. I’ve used Seymour Duncan pups in my builds and originally gravitated towards SD Antiquity P90s for the Casino. Luckily for me they don’t come in chrome which was what came out of the Epi. After a ton of research I decided on your hum-cancelling P90( stock wind) along with a Toneman 50s wiring harness and Tonepros bridge. After I completed the swap and setup I have a very hard time putting this guitar down! Thanks for making pickups that inspire and amaze me!! Way to go!!
Fantastic pickups! I got a beautiful Eastman gold top that came with P90s. Took me a while to get used to the P90 tone, but grew to love them…the noise, not so much. Louder than my Strats’ single coil noise. Since ALL my other guitars have Fralins, I got a set of these hum cancelling P90s. That did it. They sound AWESOME! The same P90 tone and none of the noise. I can’t put this guitar down, now. As always, the team was helpful. Fralin are my go-to for all my guitars.
Lindy was incredibly helpful and went out of his way to make sure he had all the information necessary to make the right pickup for my guitar. The end result…AMAZING! Thank you, Sir!
Unbelievably good. I replaced the regular p-90 with this one since I like distortion and that amplifies noise. This is so quiet. I have a humbucker in the bridge (incredible combination by the way), and they have about the same noise floor. The sound is so juicy and warm. I cannot sing these praises enough.
One thing to note, the polarity of the pull pieces was reversed from the classic Fralin P-90 I replaced. I assumed this meant I would need to reverse the leads so that my guitar stayed in phase…. but then I was out of phase. So, my assumption is that the wind direction is opposite, so the phase is actually the same for both pickups.
Hopefully this helps others with their install.
Many moons ago , I had a 1969 SG with P-90’s and loved the sound of that guitar . Unfortunately, I didn’t love the HUM that came along with them, and sold it . I’ve been chasing that sound ever since. ( I have a large stable of guitars ) I just recently decided to give the Fralin Noiseless P-90’s a try and installed them in a custom S-style guitar I built ! To say I was immediately blown away by how phenomenal they sound would be a huge understatement ! And not a whisper of hum at all ! These are amazing pickups and dealing with Lindy and the folks at Fralin was a total pleasure !
Excellent P90 pickup ! Humbucker type silence in a P90 is music to my ears. I can stomp on my old Rat`s and not worry about the world exploding. Still sounds like it retains all P90 DNA !
The perfect solution in place of the standard P90 single coil. I had an original 1968 Gibson LP gold top with the P90’s way back in 1970 as my first LP. Being young & dumb, I never noticed the hum they used to make. Having many LP’s after that, Gibson came out with the identical model (The Crown Headstock) from their reissue custom shop & of coarse being nostalgic, I had to get one. Well after playing so many Gibby’s with humbuckers, this hum noise drove me crazy & I actually thought about getting rid of it. Then curiosity got the best of me. I researched P90 humbucker & low & behold Lindy Fralin popped up!! God created this holy man just for me lol. They sound great if not better than the originals. I didn’t lose any tone or quality & best of all without the hum!!
I got the std P90 in the neck & the 5% over wound in the bridge & for me it’s the perfect combo!!!
I bought the P90 soap bar noiseless pickups for a custom build guitar I’m making from scratch. I did a lot of research before I decided on them. I own all the top of the line guitars which all have nice voices but I can’t say any of them gave me the wow sound I was looking for. I had high expectations waiting the three weeks for my Lindy Fralin’s to arrive. When I tuned up and played them they totally blew me away. A wow is underestimating them. They are simply amazing. The neck pickup tone is fat and rich. The bridge pickup is everything you could dream of for your solos and the two pickups together, well you just have to experience this yourself but they leave me breathless. I wired them with the blender potentiometer which gives additional tone options. Highly recommended. Really wish I had found these 20 years ago!
Excellent quality and perfect P-90 sound!
These are exactly what I was looking for in my SG Classic! definitely the P90 character with no noise! They sound great clean to mid breakup as you would expect from a good P90 and higher gain sounds are punchy and articulate without the hum interfering with the tone.
