Sound & Video
There are a few ways to cancel out the hum in a pickup. Some manufacturers feature a “stacked” coil design, which we believe leads to a lifeless and dull tone that lacks character. Lindy’s Hum Cancelling P90 features a Side-by-side coil design that is not stacked and attains a more accurate P90 tone that actually sounds like a P90.
Expect a vintage-voiced P90 tone, with a slightly thicker midrange and rounder highs. This pickup will undoubtedly push your amp hard and provide that snarly midrange and top-end “bark” we have come to expect from a P90. Suitable for many music styles, this pickup can scream and clean up nicely for jazz or blues.
Going even further, you can customize your tone by selecting Overwound and Underwound options. By overwinding a pickup, the tone gets thicker, darker, and dirtier. By underwinding a pickup, the pickup gets clearer and more articulate.

Hum-Cancelling P90s consists of 100% USA-Made parts, including a precision injection mold, USA-Made Steel Screws, and Neodymium magnets. We use aggressive USA-Made Neodymium magnets to make this model scream. Each bobbin is carefully inspected and cleaned before winding.
We wind each pickup by hand, one at a time, using our proprietary “Sectioning” technique, which gives the pickup a sweet, clear tone. Finally, we wax-pot the pickup to prevent microphonics and preserve the pickup for years to come.

Here's how we wind and magnetize our pickups:
If you're buying a set from us, all pickups will work together seamlessly. If you're buying a single pickup, all you need to worry about is Coil Direction.
To ensure your pickup will work, make sure you select multiple leads (2-Conductor, 3-Conductor, or 4-Conductor if available), or the 3-Wire modification so you can reverse the coil direction, if need be.

Dogear Shim Height Calculator
Calculate what shims you need!
- Select your cover height. Most cover heights are either 1/4" (Short Dogear) or 7/16" (Standard Dogear).
- Depress the Low E string at the highest fret
- With the Low E depressed, measure from the bottom of your pickup to the bottom of the string
- Input that measurement into the "String Height" box, and calculate!
Note: Shims are stackable and sandable. It's good practice to get more shim than you need, then sand it down to meet your measurement.

My Epiphone Casino’s 50th birthday present..
Lindy, your amazing hum-obliterating P90 was the present I gave to my very best guitar friend in the world. In 1968 my father gave me a lovely Epiphone Casino, a single-pickup E230T. It has been with me now for 50 years and plays like the day I got her. But the original P-90 was, lets say, noisy. To honor her 50th year I selected your hum-cancelling P-90 as the pickup to replace the original and was incredibly happy with the results. I has all the depth and bite of the original and is deadly quiet. It also enhances the “acoustic” sound of the Casino’s open body. I play big band jazz and it’s a now a very nice alternative to my Ibanez ’85 AR-350 (post-lawsuit ES-175 copy). You have given new life to my very most special guitar and I can’t thank you enough. I’d be glad to send a photo and a little video if you are interested. Mark Loveless, Portland, OR. -

This pickup has an excellent P90 tone with none of the noise. True single coil P90’s are probably the noisiest pickups ever designed, but not these Fralin noiseless P90’s… they have all of the “goodness”, punch, and grind of a great single coil P90, but they are dead silent. I have a stock wind neck and a +5% wind bridge Fralin noise canceling P90 in a Guild Bluesbird, and that guitar went from “nice” to REALLY astounding!! A VERY highly recommended pickup!!

I love P90s but hate the hum. I’m not sure how Lindy does it, but these sound like an awesome P90 without the hum. I only wish I had more guitars routed for a P90. -
Ive tried a lot of different pickups–Gibson’s, Dimarzio’s, Seymour Duncan, Lollar’s – but this pickup is by far my favorite. I’m extremely pleased with it and will be purchasing more. Glad I tried it! Has a crystal clear sound, tight distortion, and very well balanced. Highly recommend.

Fralin hum cancelling P-90s are my favorite pickups. Bought them for a backup guitar which became my go-to instrument once they were put in. By far the clearest most responsive low E sound I’ve had. Even on the neck pickup it doesn’t get mushy. Plus they are hum cancelling which is really important as several places I play have neon signs, questionable electric, etc. I can use all pickup positions now wherever I play and get great P-90 tone. If you’re looking for a hum cancelling pickup that has more beef than a single coil and more snap/articulation than a humbucker give these a try.

Listen with your ears not with your eyes! I own a 59 Gibson P90 and the Fralin Hum Cancelling is the nearest to it that I have found (and I have tried a lot). Highly recomended.

Great Replacement. I bought your hum-cancelling P90 to replace the original pickup in my 1965 Gibson ES-125T. The pickup was an exact fit. I love the tone and the lack of hum.

Articulate, docile, and ferocious! All in one!
I replaced the stock pu that came in my Reverend Sensei Jr. with this, as the original pu sounded pretty good but was very microphonic. I am super happy with the results. I can nail just about any sound I want, as the Sensei has a treble roll off knob and a bass roll off knob. It is easy to get a clean hi-fi sound with rich solid bass and the right amount of mids’ and hi’s. Equally easy to find is great crunch by running the volume up a bit. Pinch harmonics pop right out. Just a great all round pickup for a guitar with only one. Thanks guys! -
Best P-90 on the Market! I am absolutely thrilled with the set I purchased. They replaced three Gibson stock P-90s and the difference is stunning. The attack is sharper, the body is fuller, and, of course, the noise is kept to a minimum. I’d like to add that I called to inquire about the best way to replace a set of three and Lindy himself answered the question. I just can’t say enough good things.

Put this pickup in my circa 1963 Gibson ES-125T. It sounds great, no noise and it fit perfectly. This guitar used to sit in the case and only get played maybe once a year, now I am playing it all the time. I am very very pleased! I play mostly Jazz and Blues and this pickup is perfect for this. The original P90 had an unuseable 60 cycle hum. I highly recommend this pickup to anyone that can’t stand the 60 cycle hum. Thank you Lindy Fralin!

Love the hum cancelling soapbars. These made such a huge difference in my LP Special that I cannot put the guitar down. I haven’t touched a Strat single coil or Les Paul humbucker since!
