The Fralin Hum Cancelling P90 is one of the best-selling models we make, and it’s easy to see why. Genuine P90 tone and dead-quiet performance? What’s not to love?

Whether you play Rock, Jazz, Country, R&B, or Funk, you will undoubtedly stand out in the mix with the pronounced pick attack, crystal-clear lows, and round highs. And the best part? Zero hum. Available in a Soapbar, Dogear, and Humbucker, you can rest assured knowing you can get the Fralin P90 tone in any guitar you have.

There are a few ways to cancel out the hum in a pickup. Some manufacturers feature a “stacked” coil design, which we believe leads to a lifeless and dull tone that lacks character. Lindy’s Hum Cancelling P90 features a Side-by-side coil design that is not stacked and attains a more accurate P90 tone that actually sounds like a P90.

Expect a vintage-voiced P90 tone, with a slightly thicker midrange and rounder highs. This pickup will undoubtedly push your amp hard and provide that snarly midrange and top-end “bark” we have come to expect from a P90. Suitable for many music styles, this pickup can scream and clean up nicely for jazz or blues.

Going even further, you can customize your tone by selecting Overwound and Underwound options. By overwinding a pickup, the tone gets thicker, darker, and dirtier. By underwinding a pickup, the pickup gets clearer and more articulate.

Speaking of versatility, are you looking for a jazzier tone? We can use Alnico 6 Magnets to taper the highs even more and offer you a softer sound. Are you searching for a cleaner and more Fender sparkle? Check out our Alnico Rod Version that features Alnico Rods for a Fender-type sparkle.

Our manufacturing process allows us to achieve unparalleled quality control.

Hum-Cancelling P90s consists of 100% USA-Made parts, including a precision injection mold, USA-Made Steel Screws, and Neodymium magnets. We use aggressive USA-Made Neodymium magnets to make this model scream. Each bobbin is carefully inspected and cleaned before winding.

We wind each pickup by hand, one at a time, using our proprietary “Sectioning” technique, which gives the pickup a sweet, clear tone. Finally, we wax-pot the pickup to prevent microphonics and preserve the pickup for years to come.

  1. What’s the tonal difference between this and your Stock P90The Hum Cancelling P90 is slightly louder, darker, and thicker. It’s quicker to break up, and has no hum!
  2. What output do I choose? Our most popular set is the Stock Neck & Bridge. Going with a +5% output from Stock will thicken and darken the tone. Going with a -5% will clean up and reduce the midrange, making it sound more articulate and clear.
  3. What lead do I choose? This depends on your guitar and a few other things. Gibson Lead: Go with this if installing a set into a Gibson-style instrument, where each pickup has its respective volume pot. 2-Conductor: Go with this lead if buying a Single, or installing into a Fender-style instrument.
  4. What’s the String Spacing? 49.5mm.
  5. I don’t see what I’m looking for? We can do some custom work, for sure. However, we’re not tooled-up for certain things, like Nickel Dogear Covers. Contact us if you’re not seeing something you’re looking for.
  6. How far away from the strings does the pickup need to be? Push your Low E String down at the highest fret. Measure from the top of the pole piece to the bottom of the string. The ideal starting location should be 1/8″ on the bass string, and 1/16″ on the treble string when the High E string is pushed down at the highest fret.

Like them a lot. My P90s are in a telecaster with a 4-way switch. The bridge 2C series 2C and parallel positions sound great. Neck position sounds a little muddy and I’m working on that. Playing through a deluxe reverb clone with this setup is really good.

    Finally!!! A no-hum P-90 that sounds like a great sounding P-90… it’s a must-have. So Rad! Aloha, Bob Rock!!

  3. Gary Davis Verified Buyer

Great P90 Tone! These pickups deliver that great P90 tone of the past but without the hum! Another great design by Lindy Fralin!

  4. Michael Miller Verified Buyer

Amazing upgrade! Hello Lindy, Swapping out the original Gibson P-90 with your hum canceling one has taken my Les Paul Jr to a whole new level. It is now completely silent so I can focus on the nuances of the tone of the pickup. It sounds warmer, richer and grittier than ever before! I can’t thank you enough for the improvement in the tone your pickup has brought to my guitar! See you again, hopefully soon.

  5. James Collodoro Verified Buyer

    Awesome pickup
True to a P90 without the hum! Love it.

  6. Martin Liter King

Welk, i bought the humless P90 Dogear for to try to build a cheap and good guitar which can take some serious beating during live shows.
So i bought a brand new 230,- (!!!) Harley Benton Junior Double cut and slapoed in this P90. With shocking results!
I chose the guitar because ist is all mahony with a set neck. With the Fralin PU ist is my best sounding guitar now and that‘s hillarious as i own an der Gibson 94 Dc, an Gibson 61 Reissue SG and an Duesenberg Dragster which i love to death!
Success? Hell yes!!! This won‘t be the last Fralin for me to get, thats for sure!
    Trank you!!!

  7. Mike Ginesi

Just finished installing a +5% neck hum canceling P90 in my 1955 Gibson es 225 – single pickup guitar.
The original gibson pickup had a cracked top and was not sounding quite right… Probably need to get it repaired.
And middle position on this guitar is not quite neck or bridge… New electronics and all [so the original stays original and in a box]
Used 500k for vol and 250k for tone with 22 cap… So +5% – Wow it sounds marvelous …
can be clear and throaty – gritty to chimey and jazzy and mellow. Makes the ’55 sound like dynamite!
    Thanks Lindy!

Holy P90! This pickup is beyond godliness! A whole new level has been reached then far surpassed!

  9. Anthony Gallucci Verified Buyer

Absolutely unreal! The luthier that put them in for me fell in love with them. He called the bridge pickup “Filthy!” in the best way possible. The 2019 Les Paul I put them just came alive. Kudos!

I received a set of these Hum Canceling P90’s in my Novo Serus J a few months ago. Honestly, at first …. I was really kinda bummed that Dennis and crew had stopped using the Amalfitano P90’s in their guitars as I was addicted to them. They were the best P90’s that I had ever owned/played in my short electric guitar playing career(8 years). I figured worst case scenario, I could sell the Fralin’s and contact Jerry to get a set of his made to go in the Novo if I ended up not liking them as much …… BUT ….. I don’t see that EVER happening. These Hum Canceling P90’s flat out ROCK and are dead silent!!! That was my only complaint ever about P90’s was the noise and how Lindy managed to pull off a silent P90 that still sounds like and reacts like a P90 is suppose to is beyond me …. but I am very grateful he did! This has turned into my #1 electric and honestly the first guitar I’ve owned that I don’t see myself changing a single thing out electronic wise(which is normally the first thing I do to a guitar). So, a big THANK YOU goes out to all at the Fralin company!!! Job well done!!!

  11. Ralph Fulwider

All I can say is WOW, what a difference. I have a 2015 Gibson Les Paul Special DC with P-90’s stock. I thought it sounded pretty decent. I purchased the hum canceling p-90’s stock. Like I said WOW I pushed my pedal board to the side couldn’t believe how much better it sounded. Blown away. So worth what I paid. Great customer service. Top shelf

  12. David Foster Verified Buyer

Lindy has nailed it again! These sound incredible.

  13. Raleigh Smith Verified Buyer

    This is everything I wanted!
I’m probably not the traditional Fralin customer. I play punk with lots of gain, but I care about my tone. This pickup ticks all of the boxes. I don’t have the annoying feedback and buzz from my old P-90. I also got the over wind so the breakup is much sooner meaning I don’t have to run as much gain. It is still a P-90, so I cut through the mix like I’m playing a Telecaster through a Twin Reverb on 10. Thanks so much for the amazing product. I will be getting one of your PAF’s next.

  14. James Reed

Lindy thank you for this pickup. I have your pickups in all my guitars and these P90s might just be my favorite. I don’t know what your secret is but to anyone that hasn’t heard: image the best sounding P90 guitar from one your of favorite albums and then remove the hum, that’s it. I replaced the stock P90s in a Gibson SG with these about a year ago and I still can’t put the guitar down. Every time I play it, I get a big smile on my face from the sound coming out of these pickups. As with all Fralin pickups, there is no sweet spot on your volume or tone controls, the sweet spot is everywhere. You can’t get a bad sound out these pickups. If you’re thinking about trying these pickups, just do it. You won’t regret it. One recommendation: try these out with a treble cut and bass cut tone circuit like on a G&L or Reverend.

Can I curse in a review? They f***ing rock.

  16. Mark Poole Verified Buyer

    Overall, good!

While I feel maybe a little something was lost from switching from the classic “noisy ” P90 that was in my Les Paul before. I am overall pleased. The small compromise in sound is not enough to make me want to go back to the old ones. It sounds very close. When I a/b it with a normal Gibson PAF the difference is huge. More bite, clarity and versatile tone. Equally suited for “Tele” style country picking, heavier rock, rockabilly, and blues. These pickups allow me to be all over the map stylistically without switching guitars and the best part is they are as quiet as a PAF.

  17. Robert Rock Verified Buyer

Finally, a Hum-Cancelling P90 that rocks!! All the character of a vintage P90, with some mid-range push and an open vintage top end…love it!!!

  18. Diego Russo Verified Buyer

This P90 with the 5% overwound spec(noise canceling) is just ridiculous!! Placed it in my 2011 TV Yellow Jr and now that guitar blows away most of my higher end LPs!! Can I just say WOW all over again?!?

  19. Emery Bernolak Verified Buyer

    Sounds amazing.

I put these Lindy Fralin hum cancelling P90s in a 1963 Gibson SG and they sound great! Very happy with them. Thank you.

    Hum-Cancelling P90 “No 60 Cycle Hum”d
I could not be any happier with my Hum-Cancelling P90s!!! I have never owned P90s that did not hum. Some worse that others. I can turn my amp up and there is no hum at all. That is great….but don’t forget why we like the P90s….that punchy growl is there. They sound awesome!

My Epiphone Casino’s 50th birthday present..
Lindy, your amazing hum-obliterating P90 was the present I gave to my very best guitar friend in the world. In 1968 my father gave me a lovely Epiphone Casino, a single-pickup E230T. It has been with me now for 50 years and plays like the day I got her. But the original P-90 was, lets say, noisy. To honor her 50th year I selected your hum-cancelling P-90 as the pickup to replace the original and was incredibly happy with the results. I has all the depth and bite of the original and is deadly quiet. It also enhances the “acoustic” sound of the Casino’s open body. I play big band jazz and it’s a now a very nice alternative to my Ibanez ’85 AR-350 (post-lawsuit ES-175 copy). You have given new life to my very most special guitar and I can’t thank you enough. I’d be glad to send a photo and a little video if you are interested. Mark Loveless, Portland, OR.

    They are great. ?

  23. Ralph Okunewitch Verified Buyer

This pickup has an excellent P90 tone with none of the noise. True single coil P90’s are probably the noisiest pickups ever designed, but not these Fralin noiseless P90’s… they have all of the “goodness”, punch, and grind of a great single coil P90, but they are dead silent. I have a stock wind neck and a +5% wind bridge Fralin noise canceling P90 in a Guild Bluesbird, and that guitar went from “nice” to REALLY astounding!! A VERY highly recommended pickup!!

  24. Steven Dick Verified Buyer

Put these on a Les Paul Special and made it a better guitar. No more buzz, great tone. Just what I was looking for.

  25. Chad Ostlund Verified Buyer

    Awesome, just awesome
I love P90s but hate the hum. I’m not sure how Lindy does it, but these sound like an awesome P90 without the hum. I only wish I had more guitars routed for a P90.

  26. Kevin O’Rear

Ive tried a lot of different pickups–Gibson’s, Dimarzio’s, Seymour Duncan, Lollar’s – but this pickup is by far my favorite. I’m extremely pleased with it and will be purchasing more. Glad I tried it! Has a crystal clear sound, tight distortion, and very well balanced. Highly recommend.

  27. Sean Jenkins

Fralin hum cancelling P-90s are my favorite pickups. Bought them for a backup guitar which became my go-to instrument once they were put in. By far the clearest most responsive low E sound I’ve had. Even on the neck pickup it doesn’t get mushy. Plus they are hum cancelling which is really important as several places I play have neon signs, questionable electric, etc. I can use all pickup positions now wherever I play and get great P-90 tone. If you’re looking for a hum cancelling pickup that has more beef than a single coil and more snap/articulation than a humbucker give these a try.

  28. Chris Bucheit Verified Buyer

This pickup sounds great – great sounding P90!

  29. Michael Newman Verified Buyer

Amazing! Same mid range snarl but with no noise. I had confidence these would be what I neeed but noiseless since I had purchased a set of hum cancelling Jazzmaster pickups before.

  30. Pekka Kortelainen Verified Buyer

Finally I have P90 with no hum and with very nice sound. My guitar is one on a kind Heritage Custom Shop Golden Eagle Byrdland, originally with Lollars. Thanks Lindy!
