Tonal Graph for Hum-Cancelling P90:
The tone graph below for our Hum-Cancelling P90 features Lows, Midrange, Highs, and general Output.
Attack: Stiff & Percussive
There are a few ways to cancel out the hum in a pickup. Some manufacturers feature a “stacked” coil design, which we believe leads to a lifeless and dull tone that lacks character. Lindy’s Hum Cancelling P90 features a Side-by-side coil design that is not stacked and attains a more accurate P90 tone that actually sounds like a P90.
Expect a vintage-voiced P90 tone, with a slightly thicker midrange and rounder highs. This pickup will undoubtedly push your amp hard and provide that snarly midrange and top-end “bark” we have come to expect from a P90. Suitable for many music styles, this pickup can scream and clean up nicely for jazz or blues.
Going even further, you can customize your tone by selecting Overwound and Underwound options. By overwinding a pickup, the tone gets thicker, darker, and dirtier. By underwinding a pickup, the pickup gets clearer and more articulate.
Speaking of versatility, are you looking for a jazzier tone? We can use Alnico 6 Magnets to taper the highs even more and offer you a softer sound. Are you searching for a cleaner and more Fender sparkle? Check out our Alnico Rod Version that features Alnico Rods for a Fender-type sparkle.
Our manufacturing process allows us to achieve unparalleled quality control.
Listen to our friend Mike Hermans play our Hum Cancelling P90, only in a soapbar format.
Hum-Cancelling P90s consists of 100% USA-Made parts, including a precision injection mold, USA-Made Steel Screws, and Neodymium magnets. We use aggressive USA-Made Neodymium magnets to make this model scream. Each bobbin is carefully inspected and cleaned before winding.
We wind each pickup by hand, one at a time, using our proprietary “Sectioning” technique, which gives the pickup a sweet, clear tone. Finally, we wax-pot the pickup to prevent microphonics and preserve the pickup for years to come.

I ordered a set of overwound hum canceling P90’s with a raw nickel covers, beautiful things and easy to wire as falling off a log. They are VERY sensitive to pickup height, fortunately P90’s just get sweeter the farther away they are from the strings instead of merely fainter as some humbuckers tend to do. These are clear and defined, articulate without any ice picky annoying screech, and able to go from a subtle whisper to a full out roar depending on where your pickup selector is at the time and what your guitars volume is set at. For guys that dislike switching channels on an amp, these are a godsend. I have these in a 2015 Les Paul Special that originally came with solid slug P90’s that I really dislike. Now this is one of my desert island guitars, along with my LP Standard that also as Fralin humbuckers. Can’t recommend these enough!
The noiseless P-90 is my first Fralin pickup. Loaded in my Fender Noventa Telecaster, the sound is open and articulate with some classic P-90 sound when played through a clean amp (Fender Pro Junior IV). The pickup is very quiet and greatly reduced the amount of noise. The stock pickup sounded great but was really noisy in my old house with really old wiring — not much shielding here.
The fun really started when I kicked on the Formula 55 overdrive and cranked up the Pro Junior. It was the P-90 growl and crunch I was hoping for. The bottom end doesn’t get muddy and mids are right where they need to be.
I have since ordered a set up humbucker-sized P-90s for my LP.
This was exactly what I needed! I play a Reverend Double Agent which is a great guitar and now having both pickups be hum-canceling really makes it my go-to guitar for everything.
I love these Hum Canceling P90!
Following Jon’s advice from Fralin, my luthier installed the P90 set with 500k pots and a .22 capacitor. After this installation he told me that he was really impressed by the sound, the balance, the dynamics, the precision and the definition of these P90s. Only superlatives.
And the fact that these P90s don’t take up more space than standard P90s is really an advantage.
And personally, I think like him. I rediscovered my very good Saint Blues Juke Joint Bluesmaster guitar. It’s now an excellent guitar, and it’s the one I play most often, very inspiring. And even pushing the amp and the Overdrive pedal, no significant hiss. Impressive!
In summary, I can say that for a Mahogany body, a Mahogany neck and a Rosewood fingerboard, so Les Paul type, it’s really absolutely recommendable P90s. Impossible to be disappointed. I said.

Far exceeded expectations. For a little background, I got the overwound pickup and put it in a 68 SG tuned to drop A. The clarity is stunning. The growl is real. And when I roll back the volume, it’s beautiful. I run through a Mesa 50 caliber plus, and this setup is just perfect at blending grit and clarity. Should also mention that when playing leads, there is zero ice pick. Recommend for all p90 fans.
I put a pair of hum cancelling p-90’s in my ‘67 es-330 along with a new harness (want to keep the original intact)
I didn’t think I could love this guitar any more than I did, but I was wrong! It sounds amazing and is totally noiseless.
I also want to thank Lindy for personally calling me to help me figure out what the pickups I took out of there were. One had been replaced and was a poor match.
I couldn’t be happier with Lindy’s Pickups
Thank you!
Ordered the noiseless p90’s a while ago to put them into a LP special tribute, had to replace the PCB in the guitar to put the pickups in (didn’t bother me at all to get rid of that cheap PCB setup) these p90’s have improved everything about this guitar, love fralin pickups, put some blues specials in a telecaster a while back and same for that guitar too, just improved everything about it. If you are looking to replace pickups in any guitar I would highly recommend anything by fralin. Excellent work five stars!
I recently acquired a 2012 Gibson SG Junior. I loved everything about the guitar, especially the sound of the stock P-90 which was extremely rich and clear, yet punchy in the mid-range. However, I was really bothered by the 60-cycle hum. I ordered the Fralin hum-cancelling P-90 and specified the standard winding (neither over- nor under-wound) because I figured it would sound the closest to the stock pick-up. In fact, when it was installed, it sounded EXACTLY like the original but without the hum. I could not have been happier. I wholeheartedly recommend this pick-up.
The Fralin Hum Cancelling P90 is the best sounding pickup I have ever heard or played. From this point onwards, I will only be playing guitars equipped with it.
Bought the -5 underwound noiseless P-90 for the neck position on my PRS and along with a PAF in the bridge (from another vendor) the guitar (which I’ve been looking over 5 years for a solution) has become exactly what I wanted it to be. PAF in the bridge, open sounding neck pickup with no noise…can’t put it down. Went from last in line to first. Thank you Fralin. Its rare when you buy something and think…nailed it. But yep…this did the trick. Get the -5 on the neck if you want to get rid of the dark and lifeless pickups that come in guitars sometimes.
