How It's Made:

There are a few ways to cancel out the hum in a pickup. Some manufacturers feature a “stacked” coil design, which we believe leads to a lifeless and dull tone that lacks character. Lindy’s Hum Cancelling P90 features a Side-by-side coil design that is not stacked and attains a more accurate P90 tone that actually sounds like a P90.
Expect a vintage-voiced P90 tone, with a slightly thicker midrange and rounder highs. This pickup will undoubtedly push your amp hard and provide that snarly midrange and top-end “bark” we have come to expect from a P90. Suitable for many music styles, this pickup can scream and clean up nicely for jazz or blues.
Going even further, you can customize your tone by selecting Overwound and Underwound options. By overwinding a pickup, the tone gets thicker, darker, and dirtier. By underwinding a pickup, the pickup gets clearer and more articulate.

Hum-Cancelling P90s consists of 100% USA-Made parts, including a precision injection mold, USA-Made Steel Screws, and Neodymium magnets. We use aggressive USA-Made Neodymium magnets to make this model scream. Each bobbin is carefully inspected and cleaned before winding.
We wind each pickup by hand, one at a time, using our proprietary “Sectioning” technique, which gives the pickup a sweet, clear tone. Finally, we wax-pot the pickup to prevent microphonics and preserve the pickup for years to come.

If you're buying a set from us, all pickups will work together seamlessly. If you're buying a single pickup, all you need to worry about is Coil Direction.
To ensure your pickup will work, make sure you select multiple leads (2-Conductor, 3-Conductor, or 4-Conductor if available), or the 3-Wire modification so you can reverse the coil direction, if need be.

Calculate what shims you need!
- Select your cover height. Most cover heights are either 1/4" (Short Dogear) or 7/16" (Standard Dogear).
- Depress the Low E string at the highest fret
- With the Low E depressed, measure from the bottom of your pickup to the bottom of the string
- Input that measurement into the "String Height" box, and calculate!
Note: Shims are stackable and sandable. It's good practice to get more shim than you need, then sand it down to meet your measurement.

It depends on the shop capacity at the moment, and the size of your order. Feel free to give us a call for an accurate lead time. We always try to beat our estimated Lead Times.

What pickup height do you recommend setting your Hum-Cancelling P90s to?
Our recommended Pickup Height is 1/8" (3.175mm) on the Bass Side and 1/16"( 1.5875mm) on the Treble Side. To measure, hold the correct side down at its highest fret. Then, measure from the bottom of the string to the top of the pole piece.

Yes, all of our pickups are potted in USA-Made Parrafin Wax carefully chosen for it's transparent effect on tone.

Can I get my Hum Cancelling P90 with a Metal Cover?
Only if you have an Archtop, like a Casino. Our metal covers feature a curved base that will form a gap if installed on a guitar with a flat top.

My guitar is an Archtop, but I need a Standard Height (Bridge Height) Dogear in the Neck Position. How do I order that?
Some Archtop guitars feature a Standard Height P90 in the Neck with a Metal Cover. If your instrument fits this description, select “Short Dogear”, then select your cover choice and add to cart. In the “Notes” field on the checkout screen, request your neck be made as a Standard Bridge Height. We’ll make it custom!

The hum cancelling P90 is amazing. It has all the guts and bite of a true P90 with no hum—exactly as advertised. I put this in the bridge and a hum cancelling P90 with AlNiCo rods in the neck of my Novo Voltur J and couldn’t be happier. I can comp Chris Stapleton with the neck pickup and Charlie Starr with the bridge. They’re everything I hoped for.

Theses pickups are AMAZING!!! I just installed 5% overwound Hum-Cancelling P90’s in my Yamaha Revstar P90 Standard in the bridge position and paired them with a stock Hum-Cancelling P90 with Alnico Rods in the neck, and they sound fantastic!! NO HUM!!!! They still retain all of the properties of the traditional P90, just without any 60 cycle hum and the Alnico Rods keep a nice clarity with the neck pickup!! Highly recommended!!!!

I purchased the P90 neck with an overwind and Mike Larkin installed on a tele he had originally built for me with a knotty pine body. He also installed a Fralin P90 bridge pickup he already had from another project to balance to output from the neck. Mike routed some cavities in the body for resonance and shaved the neck so my tiny paws can get to all the notes without falling asleep. The result is that my custom tele partscaster is a tonal monster. I play with a blues based Christian trio and these pickups combined with the changes Mike made to the guitar give me VERY long sustain and that nuanced tone before break-up I was dreaming about but couldn’t find with stock pickup options. My playing time has increased dramatically and my satisfaction is at an all-time high. Playing an American classic now with hometown Virginia classic pickups. Thanks LF and Mike Larkin!
