I replaced the stock pickups in my Epiphone Casino with the Fralin P90s. It made an incredible difference. The Chinese-made Casinos’ stock pickups are notoriously hot, harsh, and lacking in subtlety. Upgrading them was a no-brainer, but I was shocked at the improvement when the Fralins were installed. Suddenly there were nuances to be had and suddenly it made a difference what I did with the pick. The note definition and string to string clarity are unbelievable. Chords sound rich and full. Lindy provided personal telephone guidance on measuring for shims, overriding the recommendation of my luthier, and I’m glad he did. Trust Lindy! These aren’t the first Fralins I’ve purchased and certainly won’t be the last.

Great Sounding P-90
I had been using humbucker-sized p-90s (SD Phat Cats) in a Telecaster and was not completely happy with the sound and decided to make the jump to routing out the neck position and getting a proper quality soapbar. So glad that I did. The humbucker-sized ones are nice enough but not quite there in terms of what I wanted in sound. My old guitar buddy who is more of a techy than I am and is constantly switching pickups loves my Fralin p-90 and says he wants one now too. This is my first Fralin pickup. I’ve mostly used Seymour Duncan’s and really like them but I intend to look into Fralin in the future for pickups future and will tell all of my friends. Well worth the money spent.

I cannot say enough about how pleased that I am with my new P90 pickups. They’ve made a huge difference in the overall sound of my guitar, and I would recommend them to anyone looking to upgrade and improve their existing pickups. The follow-up information about the wiring and pickup height was useful, and it was much appreciated. I will surely be doing business with Lindy Fralin pickups again

Excellent P90! Installed this in an Epiphone Coronet reissue. Love the sounds it achieves. Purchased 5% underwound, thrilled with the results. It is a fine transducer!

Expressive
Expressive like a good P-90 should be. Cleans are clear, warm, and big, but once you dig in you get the bite P-90s are known for. There were a couple of good contenders that seemed to sound a little better in sound clips, but I knew Fralin’s reputation and that clips can’t be totally trusted. I made the choice to go with Fralin, and I am happy with the choice I made.

P90 Single Coils with Alnico Rods
I put these pickups in a Gibson Custom Shop ’54 wrap tail goldtop Les Paul. The overall tone is definitely more akin to a Fender Jazzmaster than I was originally expecting. The Alnico rods have a narrower pickup magnetic aperture which resulted in marked the Fender tone. I am only just exploring these new tonal capabilities and am loving these pickups. Thank you very much for the outstanding pickups…..

Best customer service, best pickups.
I’d leave 6 stars if I could. Lindy saw what I was going for with a weird order (N:P90 B:Tele 4way mod), and took the time to give me a call personally to make sure I was aware of some of the quirks of the configuration I ordered, and explained how winding could improve the sound, along with a bright switch. Pickup came 5% under, mods in place, and it’s absolutely perfect. This has been, bar none, the best customer experience I’ve ever had. Will never buy pickups anywhere else again!

Just a note to say thank you! I purchased a Custom Shop Les Paul Special and kept it beyond the return window and ended up very disappointed. It just didn’t have a good sound clean or driven but acoustically I knew it was in there.
I purchased Stock P90 soapbars and put them in and couldn’t believe my ears. There it was! The tone I thought I was buying in the first place was just missing Lindy Fralin!

The Vintage P-90’s I ordered sound amazing. I had questions concerning “over/under” winding and Lindy called me directly the day after I placed my order. I explained the tone I was looking for and what the instrument (Rivolta Combinata) was lacking and he recommended the “stock” set right away. It is exactly as I had hoped it would be and more! Chimey, glassy, clean when needed (even at full volume with reduced pick attack) and loads of the desirable P-90 snarl. Super balanced volume between neck and bridge pick ups as well. I am going to order more pick ups for other guitars for sure and I would recommend everyone else does the same!

Great sound, funky screws
Can’t go wrong with these well-made pickups. My only issue is the supplied mounting screws. While traditional plastic covers are usually countersunk and accept countersink oval head screws nicely, the supplied covers are metal with no countersink. The proper screw would be pan-headed. The supplied countersink screws are an odd choice that looks a bit weird. I enquired if there was a reason for this but have heard no reply.

Purchased a set of P90s for a SG classic. Spoke to Lindy during the ordering process – wonderful customer service and great to help support small business. Went for a slight over wind on the bridge pickup. Installed sound is fantastic. I think a significant improvement over the stock Gibson pickups. Clean through a Deluxe Reverb, very well balanced with a great thump in the bottom end. The sound feels very alive. With volume and gain, a great SG / P90 snarl. I would wholeheartedly recommend.

Sweet P90’s
Fralin P90’s have the most pleasing sound to the ear. It is smooth, sweet, and well balanced without sharp resonant peaks or overly accentuated treble. They pull out the detail the guitar has to offer without obscuring the bass with a layer of mud and bloated tone. These are pickups that make playing the guitar fun as the sound pulls the listener in. I believe the best term is compelling: evoking interest, attention, or admiration in a powerfully irresistible way. -
That P90 Growl
Installed in silver sparkle Harley Benton single cut “Junior” style guitar with new pots & cap.
I now have the sensitivity to volume and tone control adjustments that opens up unlimited playing styles.
Starting in 1966, my guitar journey has taken me from Fender single coils to LP humbuckers and now the sounds of a single P90. No need for pedals, it’s all in the pickup.
