Sound
Fralin P-Bass Pickups are like our J-Bass® Replacements: they have a huge fat tone. Fralin P-Bass Pickups are fat, punchy, and round. The lows are deep and rich, and the highs are sweet and clear. The first thing you’ll notice when you install these pickups is how you can hear more of your P-Bass. You’ll hear an extended low-end and a rounder top-end. These pickups are very vintage sounding, but with modern power.
- For an era-authentic 50’s tone, use our “Stock Wind”, or, choose “N/A” under output preference
- For a thicker midrange and fewer highs, choose +5%. This will reduce the highs by 5%, and increase the lows and mids by 5%.
- For an even thicker tone than the +5%, you can opt for +10%. This is perfect for anyone looking for an aggressively strong midrange and dark tone. Perfect for balancing out a bright sounding bass.
- If you’re looking for a little cleaner tone, use our -5% wind. This will increase the highs by 5%, and decrease the mids by 5%.

I have several pickups made by Lindy. I especially love the Pbass +5%. This is the best pickup for roundwound strings! After years of trying different brands, I always come back to Lindy. It is by far the best balanced pickup. The low-mids are “woody” and full. The highs sing wonderfully and the pickup gain matches the pedals perfectly. One of my Fender Custom shop and my US Lakland 44-64 carry the same pickup. Each bass has its character, but Lindy gives me the performance. Awesome products! Also own a very old stock wound for my flatwound bass… Just perfect!

My all time favorite pickups. I now have them on six of my highest end basses including a Mike Lull and a Fodera. They make Any bass sound better.

It is perfect. I used this Precision pickup with standard wind in a P/J bass that I have. (Pickup in correct precision position). I had convinced myself that I wanted the overwind, and I talked myself out of it, and I could not be happier. There are many opinions on pickups, and things are so subjective: amp, strings, cables, flats, rounds, mutes, your hands, preamp….bottom line is: put some Fralin pickups in your bass and focus on other things because it really does get any better. Fat, clear, round, even. 100% happy.

After trying a lot of P-Bass pickups looking for the sound I hear in my head I finally found them in Lindy Fralin’s 5% overwound. I purchased this second set for a custom bass I am building for a friend and bass player that I really look up to. She wasn’t sure what she would like so I chose these. The bass sounds fantastic. I can’t wait to ship it to her. I’m sure she will love it.

After reading several reviews, I ordered P-bass pickups with 5% overwind as recommended by a customer and I am extremely pleased with the sound. My Sire P-bass now has the classic sound that I hear in my head whenever I think of how a P-bass should sound. Nothing beats that. Installation was straight ahead and simple as was the ordering process. Thanks to everyone at Fralin pickups for helping me achieve my sound and congratulations for creating such a great sounding product.

I rarely give reviews five stars. Though the pick ups were pricey when you add up import tax, the sound is fantastic my Squier classic vibe 60’s, which already sounded quite good, has come alive. It’s difficult to describe but the clarity and attack of the notes. It’s just better even when using a mute the attack is fantastic

Put these pickups into a 72 (stock) and a 74 (+5%) P basses to replace a hotter pick up that was in both that lacked fidelity to my ear. Both basses now sound great! Very clear very full note bloom across all 4 strings. Played a show on Sunday with the 74, and I was super happy with the tone through my SVT rig; great sound! Super Happy, as always, with the Fralins.

I have several Pbasses, and they now all have Lindy’s regular wind P pickups. I tried to keep different pickups in different basses for variety, but the Fralins are just too good! They sound like a Pbass should.

I got some Fralin pickups for my strat, on a loaded pickgaurd and they are quite possibly the best pickups I’ve ever heard for a strat- it’s H-S-S and I fell in love with the blend knob that it came with for the bridge and neck pickups. So when it came time to get a pickup for my p bass I knew what I needed, and it did not disappoint! Fralin rules!

It’s been a few weeks and I have used my P-Bass, newly equipped with Fralin pickups/ 5% overwind. I could not have been more pleased. The tone is perfect and clear. I’ve had many Fenders, and in the past, I feel they were better; but this new p bass with V- Mods are not good at all. I understand they have gone to a V- Mod 2 pickup now.
Fralin’s service was impeccable. From the first call to the delivery of the pickups. If anyone is considering new pickups, down hesitate…Fralin is great. Thank you again, all you Fralinites, for a great experience. My Fender Jazz is close to my next pair of pickups.

Got the 5% overwound p bass pickups and wow ! They really rock, huge bottom without being bloated, percussive medium and overall balance is bang on. Installed on my Japanese Bacchus Craft p bass that sounded a bit thin for me and it’s now in the American vintage tone I was aiming for. Can’t recommend them enough.

The Fralin P Bass pickup does what ALL Fralin pickups do: Tighten the focus of your instrument. I put one of these in a Squier 60’s Classic Vibe Precision Bass (btw – the new Squier CV’s are an EXCELLENT mod platform) with a 5% overwind, and now that Squier smokes the Fender American Standard.
Tight, fat, punchy, and capable of TREMENDOUS amounts of low end while still delivering surgical grade clarity. It makes a P Bass even more of a Precision Bass. Classic sounding while much easier to control to fine detail. In fact – if there was one word I’d use to describe every Fralin pickup I own – it’s DETAILED.
I’ve been slowly going through my guitar collection and replacing everything with Fralin pickups. This is instrument #4 and counting, and each time has been a revelatory upgrade.
also – word to the wise guy – 5% overwinds are your friend.

I put 5% over set in my Mim p bass and the range of tones is amazing – warm, articulate punch and vintage thump, impressive response to right hand dynamics. The output is spot on as well, highly recommended.

Great experience with Fralin Pickups from start to finish. Great value and options choosing color and wind. Excellent communication through the order process with the pickups arrived as scheduled. Perfect fit and as described, clean, clear sound with crisp, fat bass tone. Elevated the sound of my lower cost imported stock Fender P-bass that shipped with crappy intermittent sub-par pickups. I would highly recommend these for anyone picking up a lower cost Fender or Squire as part of a necessary upgrade.

Had the 5% overwind installed in my squier mini p bass. All I can say is WOW! I can’t believe the thump and tone I get out of that little bass! Can’t wait to get a set of jazz bass pickups installed on my American Professional. The tone on the v-mod pickups was very disappointing, the Lindy Fralins will be a great addition!

I finally found the P-Bass sound that was in my head. I ordered 5% overwound and I finally like the sound of my Highway 1. This is the 4th set of pickups I tried and I’m finally happy. Thanks!
