Sound
Fralin P-Bass Pickups are like our J-Bass® Replacements: they have a huge fat tone. Fralin P-Bass Pickups are fat, punchy, and round. The lows are deep and rich, and the highs are sweet and clear. The first thing you’ll notice when you install these pickups is how you can hear more of your P-Bass. You’ll hear an extended low-end and a rounder top-end. These pickups are very vintage sounding, but with modern power.
- For an era-authentic 50’s tone, use our “Stock Wind”, or, choose “N/A” under output preference
- For a thicker midrange and fewer highs, choose +5%. This will reduce the highs by 5%, and increase the lows and mids by 5%.
- For an even thicker tone than the +5%, you can opt for +10%. This is perfect for anyone looking for an aggressively strong midrange and dark tone. Perfect for balancing out a bright sounding bass.
- If you’re looking for a little cleaner tone, use our -5% wind. This will increase the highs by 5%, and decrease the mids by 5%.

P bass pickup
Very defined high and low-frequency response. Everything I was looking for in a p bass sound. Will be using this bass for studio recording.

Perfect Pups
I have two sets of P-pups from Lindy, stock, and 5% overwind. The 5% give a boomier, darker, but slightly warmer tone. The highs are still wonderfully rich though and there very little high-end attenuation. I recommend +5% to anyone playing a more modern style of music. The stock winding sounds very similar to 68 original fender P-pups that I’ve listened to head-to-head. Really nice for that vintage sound. I get a lot more off the 5% pups than I was expecting. They definitely take a moment to dial in, but they have a wonderful texture even if it’s slightly overbearing at times. My next project bass I’ll probably put in some 2% overwinds. Not that I don’t like the ones I have… I love them all! I truly appreciate LF. Their confidence in their products shows in their willingness to customize to any specification. I laughed so hard when Lindy (he answers the main phone number!!) that he’d make me 100% overwinds if I wanted. I don’t, but maybe now I do… thank Lindy and team.

This is the second set of Lindy’s P-Bass pickups that I’ve installed: both with the regular windings. One set went into a ’95 US-made Peavey Fury and the latest set went into my new G&L LB-100. These pickups have a wonderfully warm, organic quality to them that I’ve not found elsewhere. I also like the fact that I can get them in various cover colours—in this case white. Well done!

I’ve now had and played the Lindy Fralin P-Bass Pickups -5% Underwind in Cream Cover for nearly a year. I can start by saying the most obvious statement of customer service and outstanding product is paramount for any entity to have a loyal long term following. Fralin Pickups is a rare breed of making sure any potential or current customers inquiring/buying their product is satisfied without a doubt.
I installed the P-Bass pickups in my 1979 Yamaha BB1200 (and holy CHIkABOWBOOMCHiKABOW (older movie musical score pun) these Fralin’s are so articulate. My Bass was speaking again. The P/U sound can be directed, manipulated to whichever genre of music you passion. I’m quite happy with the decision to buy the P-Bass pickups from Fralin. Thank you. God bless.

I’ve been playing bass for 25 years (20 years almost exclusively on a Precision Bass) and these pickups have THE tone I’ve been chasing for decades. I threw them into a ’98 MIM standard that I always considered to be a lemon, and it changed the bass from a closet dweller to my number one. In the 20+ years I’ve had that bass I threw every P pickup you can imagine into it. This is the one. It’s never coming out.

1981 P bass
I had the clean version installed on my Pbass as the original pickups were failing. Very impressed, good output, good tone and responded well to dynamic changes

P-Bass Pickups in my Fender MIM Bass – Complete game changers! Beautifully articulate tone with these pickups. Dynamic and warm. Would 10,000% recommend!

Best pickups I have ever heard. I have stock J and P Fralins in several basses. The sound is incredible. It’s like the best possible “stock” sound you could ask for. AND BETTER. AAA+++
-
Lindy, you’re pickup are always PERFECT! I’m a long time user. Need a optimal sound for a special P-Bass always tuned in Eb, and your +5% is just PERFECT! Made the mids more precise and the sound is more even strings to strings! You’re pickup are always Awesome!

+5 Overwind P-Bass pickups ROCK!!!
Installed these an hour before a gig. A little apprehensive doing this without playing through my gig amp which was not with me at the time. Wow! I was surprised at the results. A song or two and I was dialed in and loving the bright tone I was getting from the Labella flats. Only pick up I’ll ever use. If you have been on the fence about what pickup you buy, time to get off it and order pickups from Fralin. They are the best in my opinion. -
Finally installed the +5% wound Fralin pups into my MIJ 62 reissue precision bass and I’m 100% happy with the sound service and over all online shopping experience that the Lindy Fralin team afforded me, half a world away from here in Australia. Prompt, safe distribution, email advice and after care. Thank you guys!

Sounds great
I’m very pleased with the nuances and power of this pickup. -
Truly great
I installed this -5% underwind into my Fender American Vintage ‘63 Reissue, which I have had for many years. The stock pickup was great, but the bass itself was already dark-sounding and that pickup is also a dark sounding pickup. I mostly dealt with this with EQ, but eventually decided I didn’t want to keep fighting with it, so I gave Fralin a call and the person I talked to heard and understood what I was dealing with and recommended the -5% underwind to counter the dark sounding bass. It did just that. It naturally sounded like what I was doing the work to get to. It reminds me a bit of the Fender Custom Shop ‘62 pickup. A little quieter, but a little more balanced if it is in a dark bass. Basically, it took out some of the lows that were clouding the bass and emphasized the top end a little more, which is exactly what that bass needed. It sounds perfectly natural now and has a little more life and attack. I was very satisfied and highly recommend. -
P-Bass pickups, +5% overwind
I’m happy with the pickups. There’s a significant difference in tone that I consider an improvement from Seymour Duncan’s that I had. Surprisingly, my bass now requires a higher setting on the volume control to get the same sound level as before. It’s not a problem, as I have plenty of headroom on all of my amps, but is this a normal result? I’d like to hear from you. -
Captures that perfect P-Bass sound.
I’ve played/owned dozens of P-Basses over the years, and I always weigh each of them against the better examples of the breed that I’ve encountered. One exceptional example was the sound I got from an early Fralin loaded Lakland Glaub that sounded absolutely perfect. I’ve been chasing that sound for years since, and finally decided to load my trusty 77 Fender Precision with a set of standard wound Fralins… and the sound I had been looking for was right there. I love these pickups, and highly recommend them to anyone who may be looking to capture the very soul of the Precision sound.
