High Output Strat FEATURES:

High Output Single Coil Pickups are for players that use the Hum-Single-Single or Hum-Single-Hum variation on their guitars. Our High Output Pickups are thick, strong, and dark. If you have a bright-sounding guitar, you will love the sound of High Output Single Coil pickups. High Output Pickups are perfect for any musician trying to balance the tonal aspects and the output of a humbucker with their single coils.

High Outputs are wound with 5% more coil than Blues Specials, which means 5% more output than our Blues Special pickups. 5% more coil also means more mid-range and less treble than our Blues Special Pickups.

  • Modified Fender specifications for the boldest tone possible
  • Loudest and highest-output Strat replacement we make
  • RW/RP Middle Pickup for Hum-Cancelling in positions 2 & 4
  • Compensated Bridge output for even volume across all pickups
  • USA-made Alnico 5 Magnets for optimal tonal balance and output
  • Two magnet staggers available for different fingerboard radiuses
  • Hand-wound with our “Sectioning” technique for unique, dynamic tone
  • Hand-built fiberboard Bobbins for unrivaled quality control
  • Backed by our 10-Year Warranty on manufacturing defects

How do they sound? Thick, dark, and quick to break up! Whether you play clean or dirty, you’ll be impressed by the massive midrange and smooth highs this set provides you. You’ll notice the compressed beefy tone and low-end growl, perfect for combining with other pickup designs, like a Humbucker or P90.

You can expect a less emphasized attack as the highs are smoother and darker than our Standard Strat sets, like our Blues Special, which features a more pronounced pick attack. Due to this set’s compressed, thick nature, you can expect to move away from the tone of the Stratocaster. With distortion, you’ll notice a smooth grind that will transform your Strat into a real tonal powerhouse.

It all starts here: Our manufacturing process allows us to achieve unparalleled quality control. Our High Output Strat Pickups consist of locally-stamped fiberboard and USA-Made Alnico 5 Magnets.

We wind each pickup by hand, one at a time, and wind each pickup using our proprietary “Sectioning” technique. This gives the pickup a sweet, clear tone. Finally, we wax-pot the pickup to prevent microphonics and to preserve the pickup for years to come.

I have an Ibanez RG570 H/S/H that I have a Fralin High Output humbuckers in the neck and bridge position & a Blues special in the middle. My Blues special has something wrong with it and I want to replace it with the high - output single coil. Any issues that I should consider? I am splitting the bridge pickup when I am on position 2.

Hey Naoaki, yes - they are identical other than the middle being RW / RP.

Hey Tony, we'd recommend 500K pots for our High Outputs.

  6. I have a 2017 American pro strat with stock pickups. I’d like a higher output pickup in my bridge position. Is this the pickup you would recommend? Will this pickup be in “phase” with my stock middle and neck pickups? I play mostly blues and classic rock with my strat.

A I would take a reading of your current Bridge pickup to get an idea of what you’re working with. This pickup will read about 10K in the bridge. If your bridge pickup reads somewhere in the 6K range, you might also like our Blues Special. Regarding the Polarity, we need to know what coil direction and magnet direction your current Bridge pickup is. https://www.fralinpickups.com/2020/04/10/how-to-reverse-pickup-phase/
  8. I have a 1990 MIM Strat with Fralin pickups (installed about that same year) I want to get a darker thicker sound so I’m thinking this would be a good choice. I want to put it in the bridge position, but am curious about adding a base plate does to the pickup.

A The Baseplate will give the High Output a touch more power and punch. It’s a removable mod, so I would go for it! You can always remove it if you don’t like it.

    The Best!

Lindy’s pickups elevate the tone and range of any guitar. Most of us will never get our hands on a vintage Fender or Gibson, but we need not worry, so long as the Fralin masters are at work. BTW, this is my second set of pickups by this great artist!

The Fralin High Outputs represent the Holy Grail of pickups, combining the power of the modern era with the vintage vibe of the past. No other craftsman has accomplished this feat, not Lollar, Seymor Duncan, or Fender. Can’t wait for delivery!

    All I Ever Wanted
Wanted to breathe some life into a Strat I’ve owned for some time. Mission accomplished! Mr. Fralin himself spoke with me on the phone to answer my questions. What other company owner does that? Could not be happier!

  6. Josh F.

A fantastic set of pickups. The middle and neck are impossibly sweet and liquidy. The higher output doesn’t make them sound any less clear. They’re less clucky than classic Strat pickups, but no less pretty. The bridge pickup sounds a bit different from the other two, a little crunchier and more compressed, but still very agreeable. I loved the way the whole set fit together. My fave set of Strat pickups, and a great set for a Tele guy like me who expects a little more from his bridge pickup.

Exactly as described and what I was looking for

I have a fender 62 AVRI hot rod. I love the way it sounds but the stock bridge was a little weak compared to the neck and middle, I messed around with height adjustment but just couldn’t get there. This pickup was the absolute solution. It removed the ice pickness the stock pickup had. I got this with the plate on the bottom and for clean sounds, it sends my guitar into big round Tele territory. Great pickup, probably my favorite bridge pickup and I have used many over the years.

    Just the ticket!
These were just the ticket for my customer and he’s loving them in his Stratocaster. They blend well with the Hot Rail in the bridge and he couldn’t be happier. Me too. Thanks, Lindy

  10. Jack Brockman

I wanted a single coil in the neck to match an aggressive humbucker in the bridge, and this does just that. This pickup provides everything from articulate jazz chords to the smoothest blues licks you’ve ever heard. While others have mentioned that these don’t do cleans very well, I must disagree. The high-output neck provides a very warm, yet still chimey, tone that works well for a myriad of applications.

Bottom line, no complaints. 5/5 earned.
