Coil-Tapping your low-output humbucker can lead to wimpy-sounding single-coil tones. The Partial Tap Resistor helps solve that problem, by only tapping part of the coil. This gives you stronger single coil tones you can actually use.

Be afraid, Wimpy Coil-Tapped Pickups. Be Very Afraid.

Problem: When you Coil-Tap your low-output humbucker, your tapped tone sounds wimpy and thin.

Solution: Install a Partial Tap Kit to “Partially Tap” the coil, resulting in a stronger sounding single coil.

Stronger Humbuckers, like our High Output humbucker, don’t have this problem. Only our lower output humbuckers (Pure P.A.F., Jazz-Blues, Standard Humbucker) can really benefit from the Partial Tap Kit. See the installation diagram below, utilizing a Push-Pull switch.

But this mode will take off part the desirable cancellation when split coil of hambucker is in parallel with a middle single coil. Isn’t it like so ?!
