Sound
As we’re sure you’re aware, a known challenge with P90 pickups is the hum. Rest assured: we’ve solved that problem and found a unique, versatile sonic footprint where the P-92 fits perfectly.
The P-92 features a cleaner and more articulate overall tone. It’s more “polite” than our Hum Cancelling P90s, and much clearer-sounding than our Pure P.A.F. That said, the P-92 offers you a thick, warm midrange accompanied by a stiffer and rounder treble – perfect for many music styles.
The P-92 is quick to break up, but you’ll find that it’s still clearer, like traditional Vintage P90s. Built with alnico V magnets, we use 42-gauge or 43 gauge wire depending on the strength you need.
When playing clean, you’ll find that this pickup has a thicker, bold tone with a stiff high end. With distortion, you’ll find that the grind is dirtier than our Big Single, but not as much as a typical Humbucker.
Players who want a sparkly-top end should look at our Twangmasters, as our P-92’s sound more like a Gibson.
It all starts here: our manufacturing process allows us to achieve unparalleled quality control. Our P-92’s consist of USA-Made bobbins, baseplates, magnets, and wire.
We wind each pickup by hand, one at a time using our proprietary “Sectioning” technique. This gives the pickup a sweet, bright tone. We assemble each pickup one at a time, by hand. This allows us to achieve unbeatable attention to detail. Finally, we wax-pot the pickup to prevent microphonics and to preserve the pickup for years to come.

I have a telecaster thinline 72, I would like to know if the size is the same as the febder wide range and also if I can use the fender covers, I would also like to know wich would be a nice option for the output of the pickups, thanks

Hey Ahmed, the P-92 is a standard humbucker size, so it is smaller than the Wide Range Humbuckers. You would have to get a new pickguard in order to use the P-92 on your guitar.
Just watched a video of Lindy demonstrating the P92 and said the bridge was 8000 and neck was 7800. Are those stock, or how much underwound?

Hey Jeremy, those pickups were very underwound. Our Stock Set comes in at 8,200 on the Neck and 9,200 on the Bridge.
I really want a nickel set with gold pole pieces, Ive been told before that y'all cant make that -- can the adjustable pole pieces be removed and replaced? Could I buy a nickel set and gold pole pieces and swap them myself?

Hey David, we're not sure who told you that, but we can definitely do it! Just request it in the "notes" field on the checkout screen and we'll make it custom. - Tyler
I have a 335 and strat w/ texas pickups. I changed the 335 57's for a P90 (alnicoII-enamel-9.2k-7.2k) love it! No need to always backup neck volume (as I did w/ 57s). Nice clarity, mids and noise canc. on mid pos. However. w/ gain, its gets too noisy in neck/bridge pos. I was thinking about a HumCanc. P90s, but I am afraid to be too dark for the 335. Then, I looked Alnico HumCanc. P90s, but I don't want 335 to sound too similar to the strat. Fina...

Hey Francisco,
Yes - go with the overwind P-92s! You'll love the tone and the overwind bridge will give you a bit more output and push.
Would a P-92 in the bridge position pair well with a Twangmaster in the neck? I’m wanting a brighter neck sound and a bit darker bridge sound than what I’m getting from two Fender humbuckers right now. Thanks!

Hey Goose, yes, you can definitely do this. I find that the P-92 sounds best on a 500K pot, and the Twangmaster sounds best on a 250K pot. You can accomplish this by using a 500K master volume and running a 470K (or 500K if you can find it) from the switch to ground where you solder your Neck pickup. Take a look at this wiring diagram to get an id...

Sometimes there’s truth in advertising! These do exactly what Lindy says they’ll do.
I put these in my main road guitar because I don’t like using noise gates, but needed something more strident than humbuckers… and they work! I’ve been able to idle dead quiet on stages that I KNOW have power issues.
But Lindy and his team delivered even more: these have the chewiness of a p90, but the extra high-end helps a lot in most any mix. (too bright? use your tone knob, ya goof!)
They also do an excellent job of cleaning up with the knobs and pick attack, which has saved me a TON of tap-dancing, allowed me to remove a gain stage from my live board, and even upgraded my road guitar to a regular position in the studio rotation.
For what it’s worth: I’m not some blues lawyer or guitar dad. Literally every dollar I’ve earned for most of my life has come from performing, recording, or teaching music. That is to say, my livelihood depends on sounding good and I can’t recommend these enough!
They are insane
Not only do they sound fabulous; but Lindley fralin found time to talk me through the best of fit for the PRS mira s2 I was looking to put p90s into.
I may try his humbuckers given how amazing my experience has been with my prs custom 24 and it’s not like prs pickups aren’t damn good:)
If I could leave 6 stars out of 5 I would. Can’t say good enough things about the product and people who make it.
This pick up will stay clean with light pick attack with higher gain settings. It breaks up very well. Very dynamic and touch sensitive. I attempted to pair it with a Sunbucker neck. I need to figure wiring so I can control tone. I ended up pulling it out for now but I’m keeping P92 for another project. I think it will pair better with AlNiCo P90. I can’t wait. Love all of Fralin’s pickups. My goal is to have them all!
