Pickups sound great in that they are well balanced, allow the natural sound of the guitar to come through, and retain the warmth/character of a “full” wind P90 without overwhelming amps with relatively low or moderate output (e.g., 20 watts or less).

I recently made a very good purchase on Reverb for a new Gibson Les Paul Deluxe 2018 Limited Run Satin Vintage Sunburst. It came with mini humbuckers. I made the purchase with the intention to take the mini humbuckers out and replace them with P-90’s. Being that it was my first and probably my only Gibson that I can afford to buy, I wanted to keep it original. Meaning I was going to purchase Gibson P-90’s. But before the purchase I wanted to do my due diligence and check into other makers of P-90’s. Every review I read I ran into Lindy Fralin. People could not say anything bad about the man & his products, and believe me, I read a lot of reviews. It took me weeks to make up my mind even though everywhere I turned, every review, every youtube video I watched pointed to Lindy Fralin. So, I sent an email with my questions, and in less than 24 hours, Jon answered me and suggested the stock P-90’s for the type of music I played. Finally, I made the purchase. Now I understand why everything I read and listened too, put Lindy Fralin’s P-90’s high on everyone’s list. I could not be happier. The sound from that Gibson & my Fender Blues Jr is exactly how I heard it in my head. Thanks to everyone at Lindy Fralin’s.

Lindy’s P90: Amazing!

This is I think the 9th set of Fralin pickups I have bought and installed in guitars I have built. This is the second set of P90’s. I love the sound, the clarity when clean and the ability to drive them as well. the service and ability to get recommendations is great. I HIGHLY recommend Fralin Pickups.

I was gonna sell that guitar…..
I was gonna sell that Hamer P90 special with the original Dimarzio P90’s because the pu’s were too hot and sounded muddy. But I’m keeping this guitar for sure as it sounds so much better with the Fralin stock P90’s. Big, fat but clear and articulate, never muddy. Transformed the instrument for me.

Epiphone LP Jr. P90s:
I have a hobby of taking old “pawn shop” guitars and converting them into something special. I like taking a $100 guitar, straighten the neck, put some good tuners, bridge and pickups on it and turn it into something special. The current project was converting a Epiphone Les Paul Jr into a tradition Gibson LP Jr which sport a single P90 with dog ears. The Fralin P90 over wound brought this project to life. Some friends who compared it to some of the vintage LP Jr.’s they own said hands down the Fralin was a perfect touch. Would recommend this pickups for any P90 replacement project you maybe considering. Very warm but dynamic sound.

I’ve realized just over the past couple of years that I am a P-90 player at heart. This is my first foray into aftermarket, independent winder P-90s, and these are a clear winner. I got a set of these to replace the P-100s in a guitar that I dearly love, and while the P-100s are good pickups (I love them in a different guitar that I have another set in), this particular guitar needed something different. At first I tried them with Lindy’s raw nickel covers–which look super cool! But then there was still something missing somehow–that overtone “sizzle” and growl that we expect from a good P-90. Well, I swapped back to the stock plastic covers, and everything came together exactly as I had hoped . . . these are the ones that are staying in this guitar for good now! Thank you, Lindy & Company, for making such a happiness-bringing pickup!!!

The Best P90’s
I have used Fralin pick-up’s on new build and vintage guitar restorations for several years. I highly recommend, Just put a set on a 1958 Gibson they sound so great.

Great pickups. I think I’m going to try 250k pots to get a bit more of that spanky strat tone.

Nice P90
The Fralin P90 dog ear is a replacement for a newer LPJ P90 that had alnico slugs. The Fralin P90 is balanced and provides some nice tones, especially if you drive the amp (via box or volume) into some distortion. At the same time replacing the pickup, I pitched the LPJ circuit board controls and wired in a 1950’s style control circuit with PIO capacitor. Very pleased with how this turned out, and am enjoying playing it. Recommend the Fralin P90 if you’re looking for a new P90.

I’m thrilled to report that I just installed my third Fralin pickup in one of my four Telecaster’s I’ve built from parts – this one a P-90 (-10%) in the neck position in conjunction with a stock bridge pickup. It’s truly amazing how the voicing of this instrument has been sharpened exactly, even more so to what I had envisioned! I’ve followed many of the articles on this website to help with pots, resistors and wiring on my projects. I’ve also purchased and installed a Fralin ‘P-92’ and a ‘Pure PAF’ in my other Telecasters with similarly eye opening results. Just wanted to thank you for a great product and for all the information your company shares to help us get the sound we love!

Excellent sound and customer service. I purchased a p90 for an archtop. My guitar had a very low string clearance and Lindy worked with me personally on getting it dialed in just right. I am incredibly happy with the results. …very loud and with rich tone!

I just bought a pair of Lindy’s P-90 soapbars to put in a 2012 Les Paul Tribute that had Gibson Mini-Humbuckers in it. I could never quite bond with the guitar and the sound I was getting. It was not smooth and the breakup did not have the bite I was looking for. So I bought Lindy P-90s and ordered them stock with traditional Gibson braided shield wiring. I tossed the Gibson treble caps and use a pair of Orange drop .022s thinking it would be a nice pairing. (I also replaced the stock tuners with Klusion locking tuners) It is now a beautiful sounding LP. The soapbars sound fantastic! It is the sound I had been hearing in my head. The best descriptive I can use is SMOOTH! Responds so nicely to dynamics in pick attack. Subtle changes in tone and volume controls can add a little bite or make them purr. I am very happy with the purchase! My Goldtop no longer sits in its stand collecting dust! Nice work!

P-90 matched set: I Installed these on my 1974 Gibson Les Paul that I recently restored which had the original mini-humbuckers, but I wanted P-90’s on one guitar. Construction is high quality. The matched set sounds great! Nice clear warm tone from the neck PU, and crisp stinging tone from the bridge PU. Both PU’s can push a clean amp into overdrive when turned up. The PU’s enhance the natural sustain of the guitar. I did have to lower the neck PU as much as possible in it’s slot, and raise the bridge PU as high as possible, to get the most even balance. With the neck PU wound at -10, maybe having the bridge at 5 would have been easier to even them out. Overall though, I’m very pleased with the results!

Fralin vs. Gibson: I Replaced Gibson pickups that were very muddy in my 2018 LP classic with Lindy’s regular stock set. I now have a guitar that is much more articulate and still has that p90 growl!

Unbelivable Tone!
I just put these in my 73 LP Gold Top. Wow… Massive difference over the stock PUs. More bite, clarity, roundness, and definition. Overdrives as sweet as I have ever heard!! Thanks!!
