Sound
Fralin Jazz Bass Pickups offer a wide tonal range. They are wound to 60’s Specifications, which give them more output and balance. Expect a sweeter tone, with a warm midrange. Also, you’ll hear top-end sparkle and clarity. Nuances will come to life as you notice increased presence. They will break up late and stay clean longer.
Are you looking for a Hum Cancelling Jazz Bass pickup that actually sounds like a Jazz Bass? Check out our Split Jazz!
Our Pickups are dynamic – they’ll get punchy if you dig into them. They’ll have top-end spank when you slap them. You’ll also notice they’ll stay soft and dynamic when you play light. Finally, these Jazz Bass Pickups are for those who are not happy with the tone from stock pickups. These tend to be sweeter-sounding, not aggressive. You’ll wonder why you didn’t make the switch earlier.
We offer (3) winding options to help you determine the perfect tone:
- For an era-authentic 60’s tone, use our “Stock Wind”, or, choose “N/A” under output preference
- For a thicker midrange and fewer highs, choose +5%. This will reduce the highs by 5%, and increase the lows and mids by 5%.
- For an even thicker tone than the +5%, you can opt for +10%. This is perfect for anyone looking for an aggressively strong midrange and dark tone. Perfect for balancing out a bright sounding bass.
- If you’re looking for 70’s Jazz Bass tone, use our -5% wind. This will increase the highs by 5%, and decrease the mids by 5%.

The real deal! I needed a replacement bridge pu for my original seventies Jazz Bass. The Fralin bridge pickup matched my instrument and the original Fender neck pickup very nicely. Honest woody jb tone. The person who helped me was very nice and offered questions to make sure the pickup would be a good fit.

Beautiful sounding!
I bought a J-Bass set for my Fender Professional 5 string as the V-Mods that were in it I thought sounded weak and couldn’t be happier. I got the +5% overwinds. Sad thing is it made my stock Fender Player 4 sting J-Bass sound awful by way of comparison. I bought a 4-sting Lindy set for it also +5% overwind and WOW! Both basses are the best sounding out of the bunch. I now wish I had bought a Lindy hum canceling 51′ split for my 50’s parts-caster P-Bass I built. The Duncan Quarter Pound I put in it is so noisy, it is barely usable even with have a roll of shielding tape.

Having bought from Fralin twice now, a +5% jazz neck pick up & a precision pick up, I do love this company. There is a class to the pick ups & nuances, that one doesn’t find elsewhere.
I’ve since bought a lollar too to try those guys out.. very close but I don’t think it’s fralin level. I look forward to having a reason to buy fralin again in the future

Worth every penny
I replaced my stock early-2000’s MIM Fender Jazz pups with the Fralin +5 overwound Jazz set (after a brief phone consult) and couldn’t be happier! I wanted more punch and clarity and now have it in spades. You won’t be disappointed with these pickups.
-
The best! I love these pickups. I have the same ones on my other two Jazz basses so I knew what to expect. Very smooth, even, and powerful sound that responds amazingly to the touch.

Adds funky tone with my P bass pickup
-
Stock Jazz pickups are amazing. I never would’ve believed a pickup swap could make such a huge difference. Putting in Fralins transformed my ash-bodied jazz into the instrument I’ve always wanted. Thank you!

Put a set of Fralin Jazz Bass pickups in a Squier Classic Vibe 70’s Bass. Yes I know, but they fit with no problems, were easy to solder and set up, and made an incredible difference in sound. Gone are the boxy bridge and over boomy neck tones and uneven string volumes. The bass is actually easier to play and make sound good. The notes are rich and full and bloom with overtones for finger playing. Slapping sounds consistently great with the right amount of snap and pop. Recording is easier to hear in the mix and sounds great. Very very pleased with the investment in these.

Best Jazz Pickup I’ve Ever Heard
I thought I just didn’t like the sound of Jazz bass bridge pickup, but the Fralin hum-canceling Jazz changed my mind! The +5 over wind balances perfectly with the Fralin p-bass pickup in my Fender PJ bass. -
Upgraded the stock pickup from my 2019 MIM Jazz Bass and it’s absolutely wonderful! If you’re reading this and considering then look no further because this is it.
My tone is fatter and has a nice growl, while the highs is defined with clarity! I went with the 5% overwound output.

It’s like I have a whole new bass! I put the Fralin jazz bass bridge pickup into my Fender Aerodyne ant it really came alive. I love it!
-
Love em!
I actually have two sets, both jazz. One standard and one 5% underwound. They’re both amazing -
Would these be a drop-in replacement in an all-original ’68 Fender Jazz? I’d prefer to not have to do any wood work. My current set are showing their age (52 years)…
Many thanks,
…Charles -
Transformative Pups
Replaced the stock pups on my 2009 American Jazz which I always found weedy and disappointing. These are a universe apart from the originals. Punch, depth, warmth, more growl, more everything. One delighted customer here in the UK.

Great stuff!
Made my Mexi Jazz Bass sound better than any Custom Shop!

Lindy Fralin Jazz single coil 10% overwound
Great pickups as always. I have used Lindy Fralin pickups in my basses since 2011. I get the tone I am looking for. I only wish I would have known about them before 2011. -
Awesome! They are exactly as I imagined! I couldn’t be happier!
-
Great Pickups , Fast delivery .

Jazz Bass set 5% underwind: Simply excellent!!
-
I bought a used active Jazz Bass and it was in need of a tonal overhaul. I had never tried Fralin Pickups before so i figured what the hell. A MASSIVE upgrade from the 2006 era noiseless pickups. I opted for a 5% overwind as i wanted to have a darker sound. My jazz bass is amazing now. Ill be in the market for some precision pickups in the very near future. Thanks Lindy!
