5-String Jazz Bass FEATURES:
Our 5-String Jazz Bass Pickups feature a huge-sounding bottom-end and clarity. We wind these Lindy Fralin Jazz Bass Replacements to 60’s specifications, using top-of-the-line materials to give you a clear, open tone: all across the board. Our manufacturing process allows us to achieve unparalleled quality control.
These 5-String Jazz Bass Pickups consist of local fiberboard and USA-Made Magnets. We wind each pickup by hand, one at a time. Each pickup is wound using our proprietary “Sectioning” technique. This gives the pickup a sweet, clear tone. Finally, we wax-pot the pickup to preserve the pickup and prevent microphonics.
Features:
- 60’s Fender specifications, built for 5-String Jazz Basses
- Clean and clear, lots of Fender sparkle and clarity
- USA-made Alnico 5 Magnets for optimal tonal balance and output
- Compensated Bridge for even volume across all pickups
- Two magnet staggers available for different fingerboard radiuses
- Hand-wound with our “Sectioning” technique for unique, dynamic tone
- Hand-built fiberboard Bobbins for unrivaled quality control
- 10-Year Warranty on manufacturing defects
Sound
Fralin 5-String Jazz Bass Pickups offer a wide tonal range. They are wound to 60’s Specifications, which give them more output and balance. Expect a sweeter tone, with a warm midrange. Also, you’ll hear top-end sparkle and clarity. Nuances will come to life as you notice increased presence. They will break up late and stay clean longer.
Our Pickups are dynamic – they’ll get punchy if you dig into them. They’ll have top-end spank when you slap them. You’ll also notice they’ll stay soft and dynamic when you play light. Finally, these Jazz Bass Pickups are for those who are not happy with the tone from stock pickups. These tend to be sweeter-sounding, not aggressive. You’ll wonder why you didn’t make the switch earlier.
We offer (3) winding options to help you determine the perfect tone:
- For an era-authentic 60’s tone, use our “Stock Wind”, or, choose “N/A” under output preference
- For a thicker midrange and less highs, choose +5%. This will reduce the highs by 5%, and increase the lows and mids by 5%.
- If you’re looking for a little cleaner tone, use our -5% wind. This will increase the highs by 5%, and decrease the mids by 5%.

Hi sir! I really love your overwind pickups ! I Woul to take a single coil set + 5% for my Sivcak 5 strings but the body is fitted to Nordstrand sizing (shorter digs). If i take Fralin pickups puttin them into Nordies cover? Not possible? Or could you do specific covers for me? Best regards

Hey David, yes - the 5-String Jazz Bass will work seamlessly with a Preamp.
Hello, I'm considering buying a set of 5 strings Jazz Bass pickups. The one available from one of your dealers in EU right now has a set with stock neck pickup and a +5% overwound bridge pickup. I have two questions. 1. Is it ok to mix stock/overwound on the same set? 2. Is the overwound bridge going to help for a clear yet powerful low B with respect to the stock one? Thanks a lot!

Hey Luca, thanks for your question. It is definitely fine to mix the Stock and +5% Bridge! Both pickups have the same amount of clear low end, the +5% has a bit more power in the midrange and a touch darker tone. It's subtle, but basically, the +5% is a bit "thicker" sounding than the stock bridge. I think you'll like the tone.

Hey Gregg, yes they are, as well as reverse polarity. They will cancel hum in the middle position.

Go the extra mile and combine our 5-String Jazz Bass with a Jazz Bass Control Plate!:
Jazz Bass 5 set: There is not my first experience with Fralin pickups and I can say they are by far my favorite! Thank you for the great products!
Clarity Plus!
The clarity that comes through with these pickups is a vast improvement over the stock Vintage Modified. I now really enjoy playing my Jazz 5 bass now that I’ve dropped in this set of Lindy Fralins. No hype, just fact.
Thanks!
Upgrade to my MIM Jazz
The new pickups sound great! Reasonably easy to install and setup. I also really appreciate all the available videos!!
So i picked up this Blond Squire 5 string like Chucks a while back.
Tried multiple brand strings but just couldn’t get over the crazy harmonics all over the scales
Truth is, it spent more time on the guitar stand …
Eager to play it, i searched to see what was available, what could help this great lil’ bass sound better.
Read a few forums that spoke highly of these aftermarket pickups, could they be all that?
Ordered a set, wired them in as I had the others, with a master volume, blend pot & tone .
Simply Amazing … the transformation was incredible, the tones smooth through out the neck.
Now for the head stock … wish i could post a picture : )
Bottom line, when your axe sounds great, it inspires the ears and mind, and less time on the stand!
There is no coincidence for all the 5 star feedback!
Thanks Lindy
Good quality
Nicely packed and easy to install. Playing on them in the Czech Republic ?
The best pickups I’ve ever had! I have these on my fretless J bass with tape wounds and it has the clarity to really bring out all of the nuances of my bass. A++ stuff

Can you tell me more about the pick guard dummy coil thing??? How does that work?
I believe Ilitch Electronics have made these in the past. It’s a ‘Dummy Coil’ that helps reduce hum. Check them out!

Realmente Excelentes…. que más podría agregar…Saludos…
Thrilled.
Put these in a 5 string squire “precision” that looks like a jazz pickupwise. Had to rout out the holes to fit them then steal the foam from the old less than stellar pickups. Also put in a 470k resistor on each of the 500k mini volume pots to get them near 250K sounds great. Lots of power and amazing tone. I think it’s better than my ‘76 precision that has 1964 fender pre pickups. Love the decision to go with these pickups. Best $200 sound investment available in my mind
