How It's Made:

Sound & Video

Official Demo

Fralin P-Bass Pickups are like our J-Bass® Replacements: they have a huge fat tone. Fralin P-Bass Pickups are fat, punchy, and round. The lows are deep and rich, and the highs are sweet and clear. The first thing you’ll notice when you install these pickups is how you can hear more of your P-Bass. You’ll hear an extended low-end and a rounder top-end. These pickups are very vintage sounding, but with modern power.

  • For an era-authentic 50’s tone, use our “Stock Wind”, or, choose “N/A” under output preference
  • For a thicker midrange and fewer highs, choose +5%. This will reduce the highs by 5%, and increase the lows and mids by 5%.
  • For an even thicker tone than the +5%, you can opt for +10%. This is perfect for anyone looking for an aggressively strong midrange and dark tone. Perfect for balancing out a bright sounding bass.
  • If you’re looking for a little cleaner tone, use our -5% wind. This will increase the highs by 5%, and decrease the mids by 5%.

"Lindy Fralin pickups are indispensable when it comes to getting the best possible tone from all my basses (the vintage ones, and the recently built ones alike). The 5% overwound formulation gives me the clarity, fullness, punch, responsiveness, warmth and articulation that I covet for my work in Broadway orchestra pits and on tour. These pickups are a total game changer, and I look forward to them being an integral part of my sound for many decades to come."

I love how Fralin pickups elevate any bass, giving me total confidence in my tone, being punchy, warm and consistent. Every bass I own is slowly but surely getting fitted with Fralins!

“If you feel as though your instrument might be too sterile sounding or lacking in sonic character, Fralin is the way to go. A very rich vintage foundation of organic sound that works for all genres.”

"Lindy Fralin Pickups bring out the best in my basses. Their products are top-notch, and their website is a treasure trove of information. Shout out to the “Two Tone Caps One Knob” mod. I am blessed to share a city with them in Richmond, VA. Amazing pickups, amazing people."

I have Lindy’s pickups in over a 1/2 dozen of my guitars/basses. If the stock ones aren’t killing me, I just swap them for Lindy’s. Just received a PBass pickup. Will install soon. Have one in another PBass and the improvement was noticeable. Love his pickups and thankful my guitar guy Larry Cragg turned me onto them 26 years ago. Cheers?

  2. Nick

Lively pickup, beautiful tone. Harmonic response is excellent, couldn’t be happier.

  3. Mike D’Arc

Dropped a set of Fralin (Stock Wind) Precision pickups into my Fender Precision Bass 1972 and it finally feels like the bass is speaking in its true voice. The tone is incredibly transparent and woody with a full, natural low end that never gets muddy, and every note carries this clear, defined presence that just sits exactly where it should in a mix without any effort. What really stands out is how honest they are, nothing feels exaggerated or colored, you just hear the instrument, the strings, and your hands in a really pure way. It brought out a depth and clarity in this ‘72 that feels vintage and alive but still focused and controlled. This is easily the best my P Bass has ever sounded and it makes you want to keep playing.

  4. Robert

Wow – it really is amazing what a difference good pickups can make. I upgraded from standard Fender American p-bass pickups, and the Fralins just give you so much more. There’s top end, roundness, volume…all the things I was fighting with my pedalboard to try and produce. The pickups are so good that I ended up taking the Tone Hammer off my board.

I have to say, I have not installed this Stock P Split Single yet but i use Fralin Electric Guitar Products a lot and those are exceptional. P-90’s to be precise. That is why i decided to sight unsee/hear purchase his P Bass pickup because i watched a clip on youtube and deciphered from that that it was an attractive sound that will likely be more attractive in the flesh rather than off of a squashed audio snippet online.
To get me the PUP from Richmond USA to Oz where i am, took 10 days about. That is way ahead of most other peoples efforts doing international from the States.
I’ve done a bit of other business with Fralin in the past 3 years in relation to P-90 covers and they were more than accommodating on an urgent need i had. Can’t say a bad word about their products, their customer service, their company.

  6. Ron Burke

Been a long time fan of Fralin pickups, rewinds, etc. I purchased a stock wind P bass pickup a couple months ago to use in a Fender Road Worn 50’s P bass. The original pickup in the bass was very good but I’ve wanted to try the Fralin for a long time and figured this was the perfect bass to do so. I’ve used Fralin Jazz pickups and had rewinds done but had never used one in a P until now. Needless to say, the result was excellent! Wonderful classic P bass tone with outstanding clarity, string balance, beautiful midrange character, and excellent output. To me, for a Fender or Fender style bass, it’s hard to beat Fralin pickups for that classic Fender tone be it a Jazz or Precision of whatever era. That said, years ago I had Lindy rewind the pickups on a Rickenbacker 4001v63 to 60’s specs and the result was fabulous. The bass sounded great stock but the rewind improved the clarity, volume balance between the pickups, and overall tone. Well worth the cost. Simply, I’m sold on the consistent quality of Lindy’s products. They’ll always be my go to. Definitely 5 Star!!!

  7. Jon Baker

These pickups are amazing! I love a P pickup. I have had them made by Fender, Ibanez and EMG and this outperforms them all. Warm and punchy with a depth of overtones, it projects better than my active pickups. I am a hobbyist and bought these for a Warmouth build. I did lots of research and I am so glad I selected Lindy Fralin pickups. I bought the stock wind. I wanted something vintage sounding, and these exceed my expectations. Lindy’s ear is superb and the attention to detail is excellent. My only request, throw in some appropriate pickup foam, for folks who aren’t replacing stock pickups. I have been playing these about a month now, and every day they impress me more. Thank you Lindy. You rock.

  8. Chris

    International customer from Amsterdam
    – I’m very happy with Lindy’s pickups . I ordered a 5%overwound for my precision bass – swapped the fender vintage vs the freakin pickups and I’m very happy with the results. Giving the tone a warmer and clearer fundament, without changing the character of the sound ( as you would with an active set for example)
Amazing sound – did the uplift for a fender Japan duck dunn bass –
    Can only recommend.

  9. Steve

Exactly what I wanted. Passive, round, wonderful.
