Sound
There are a few ways to cancel out the hum in a pickup. Some manufacturers feature a “stacked” coil design, which we believe leads to a lifeless and dull tone that lacks character. Lindy’s Hum Cancelling P90 features a Side-by-side coil design that is not stacked and attains a more accurate P90 tone that actually sounds like a P90.
Expect a vintage-voiced P90 tone, with a slightly thicker midrange and rounder highs. This pickup will undoubtedly push your amp hard and provide that snarly midrange and top-end “bark” we have come to expect from a P90. Suitable for many music styles, this pickup can scream and clean up nicely for jazz or blues.
Going even further, you can customize your tone by selecting Overwound and Underwound options. By overwinding a pickup, the tone gets thicker, darker, and dirtier. By underwinding a pickup, the pickup gets clearer and more articulate.
Speaking of versatility, are you looking for a jazzier tone? We can use Alnico 6 Magnets to taper the highs even more and offer you a softer sound. Are you searching for a cleaner and more Fender sparkle? Check out our Alnico Rod Version that features Alnico Rods for a Fender-type sparkle.
Our manufacturing process allows us to achieve unparalleled quality control.
Listen to our friend Mike Hermans play our Hum Cancelling P90, only in a soapbar format.
Hum-Cancelling P90s consists of 100% USA-Made parts, including a precision injection mold, USA-Made Steel Screws, and Neodymium magnets. We use aggressive USA-Made Neodymium magnets to make this model scream. Each bobbin is carefully inspected and cleaned before winding.
We wind each pickup by hand, one at a time, using our proprietary “Sectioning” technique, which gives the pickup a sweet, clear tone. Finally, we wax-pot the pickup to prevent microphonics and preserve the pickup for years to come.

Can I get a HUM-CANCELLING P90 with 1" pole pieces? I'm working on a J160e style guitar and would like to use your HUM-CANCELLING P90 pickup. This is an acoustic guitar and the pole piece screws have to go through the top of the guitar (much thicker than a P90 cover).

Hello, previous customer here. I'm very happy with your "Hum-Cancelling P90 in Humbucker Cover -Set - stock" (the description on the invoice) that I put in a maple capped Les Paul. I also have an AXL Bulldog LP Jr clone with a Fralin dogear P90 that I love. But in some of the bars we play at, I wouldn't mind a noiseless P90 instead. Do you know which one would be closest to the one they shipped in the AXL Bulldog? I guess my choices would be stoc...

You'll get balanced output and you can use a 500K pot which will help balance the tone.

I just had these pickups installed in my 2013 50s Tribute LesPaul, +5% overwound on both, my intial thoughts are WOW!! they really made that guitar come to life,(4-stars for now, probably go to 5 after I play them a bit!!) Much more body than with the stock P-90s, Playing up the neck now this guitar really sings, no drop off on the high strings as before. Lows are tight, Mids growl nicley, highs are very sweet to my ears, all with no noise! Awesome product! I may now have to look into some of your other offerings for my humbucker guitar!
I installed 2 Fralin Noiseless P90s into my baritone guitar and am totally impressed. Very quiet and super punchy – a big improvement on my stock P90s. They were a big hit at my last show -I had more clarity and intelligibility in the band mix, and I plan on touring with this guitar.. Also appreciate the direct support and guidance from the staff at Fralin -nice and helpful people. Maybe I can get a tour of the shop next time I play Richmond.
Hi, I got an email asking me to review or tell you what I thought of the noiseless P90s but I hadn’t had them in a live situation yet.Well, last weekend I got the chance to do a show with them but now I can’t find the email.
Long story short, they sounded fantastic, I’m very pleased. Best tone I’ve had out of that guitar and even at high volume that irritating pickup hum is more or less gone.
I put these pickups in an Epiphone ’55 Les Paul Custom and they really do sound great. They sound like the Gibson P-90s that come stock with the guitar, (which I liked) but without the ugly noise. I fine-tuned my set to include a – 5% underwound in the neck position for added clarity with cleaner tones, and a + 5% in the bridge position for a little more punch with drive tones, and this spec works great for me. You can read all the reviews, but you never really know how your pickups will sound until you play them through your own guitar and amp(s), and in this case, I could not be happier. I also have to say that Lindy Fralin has built a first class company that is focused on great products, excellent customer service, and quality above quantity. This is a company that I will continue to support in the future, and I’m already shopping for my next pickups!
I replaced my stock Gibson custom shop SG special p90s with Lindys noiseless p90s. The Gibsons were too dull and muddy especially in the bass position and they had that horrible hum. The new pickups have fixed both issues. Bothe positions are more articulate and noiseless which is great for recording.
I have just put a dog ear hum-cancelling P90 in my 2001 Les Paul Junior. Beautifully made and fitted without any mods to the guitar at all.
Far better sounding pup than the expensive hand made P90 that was in there before (which had been a significant upgrade over the stock pup. Clearer and gutsier at the same time.
Less hum and noise than any of my other humbucker equipped guitars. Finally I can use the guitar anywhere without worry.
May well be the best pup of any kind ever made.
I had been contemplating upgrading the P90s in my Goldtop Deluxe for a number of years fo these Hum-Cancelling P90s. I absolutely could not be more pleased with my decision. My only regret is not pulling the trigger sooner. I dropped in a stock set and the clarity is perfect..with no hum. Thank you Lindy et al.
I really like the P-90s that came in my Les Paul Special. Had no strong desire to change them tone-wise, but I needed to get rid of the noise. When the Fralin Hum-cancelling P-90s were installed, I noticed a little difference in the treble. The Fralin had a little bit rounder top end. I usually roll off the tone controls to about 8. Don’t do that with the Hum-Cancelling Fralins. Having gigged with these pickups a number of times I have discovered some wonderful qualities; a little extra something in the mids or lower-mids, and a little extra sustain. They sound great to me now, and NO HUM! My Special is now a go anywhere, do any gig guitar.
These P90s deliver everything you’d want in a P90 – without the hum! If anything they have more clarity than the stock Fender P90s I started with. They’re kind of an ideal solution if you want to eliminate hum but retain the authentic sound of a P90
I cannot convey strongly enough how these pickups are fantastic!!! I put them into a ’56 Epiphone LP reissue for my blues band and have been playing them at weekly gigs for the past 4 months.
They provide the right amount of clarity AND bite they are perfect. Each pickup is voiced in such a way that they drastically change the sound of the band. The neck pickup (stock) is thick and responsive, the bridge pickup (wound -5%) is jagged and forceful, AND the middle position has a lovely balanced tone for rhythm work. Oh, let’s not forget, they are hum-cancelling!!!
I couldn’t be happier. Cheers Lindy and his team.
