Sound
There are a few ways to cancel out the hum in a pickup. Some manufacturers feature a “stacked” coil design, which we believe leads to a lifeless and dull tone that lacks character. Lindy’s Hum Cancelling P90 features a Side-by-side coil design that is not stacked and attains a more accurate P90 tone that actually sounds like a P90.
Expect a vintage-voiced P90 tone, with a slightly thicker midrange and rounder highs. This pickup will undoubtedly push your amp hard and provide that snarly midrange and top-end “bark” we have come to expect from a P90. Suitable for many music styles, this pickup can scream and clean up nicely for jazz or blues.
Going even further, you can customize your tone by selecting Overwound and Underwound options. By overwinding a pickup, the tone gets thicker, darker, and dirtier. By underwinding a pickup, the pickup gets clearer and more articulate.
Our manufacturing process allows us to achieve unparalleled quality control.
Hum-Cancelling P90s consists of 100% USA-Made parts, including a precision injection mold, USA-Made Steel Screws, and Neodymium magnets. We use aggressive USA-Made Neodymium magnets to make this model scream. Each bobbin is carefully inspected and cleaned before winding.
We wind each pickup by hand, one at a time, using our proprietary “Sectioning” technique, which gives the pickup a sweet, clear tone. Finally, we wax-pot the pickup to prevent microphonics and preserve the pickup for years to come.

Here's how we wind and magnetize our pickups:
If you're buying a set from us, all pickups will work together seamlessly. If you're buying a single pickup, all you need to worry about is Coil Direction.
To ensure your pickup will work, make sure you select multiple leads (2-Conductor, 3-Conductor, or 4-Conductor if available), or the 3-Wire modification so you can reverse the coil direction, if need be.

I put this in the bridge of my Gibson ES-339, and it gave me the additional snap and clarity I was looking for, while still maintaining a nice fat mid and bottom. I use this with an Alnico noiseless P-90 in the neck, and this is a very versatile set-up! Fine job, Lindy!

Awesome sounding pickup!
-
I put these in a Wildwood Select 2020 Gibson Les Paul Standard 60s. The original humbuckers, to my ear, sounded a bit dark and muddy. Now with these P-90s the guitar SMOKES!
Love it.
-
I’ve been playing guitar for about 30 years now. I can honestly say I’ve not had this much fun in a long time just playing. This pickup (I purchased the bridge) is so organic and open, cleans up well, and has an Amazing overdriven tone. I’ve had it for over a month and I’m still blown away. I told myself no more guitars this year, but I want another project guitar just to drop in a set of these now!
-
Excellent pickups. Installing them on my Gibson 336 was easy. They are perfect, quiet and add that bit of snap and brightness that I was missing on the original pickups. Thanks for a great product.
-
These are incredible! My guitar has never sounded better- the feeling is more dynamic, cleaner, fuller, all the good adjectives.
-
I love these pickups!
I installed a Hum-Cancelling P-90 in the bridge and a P-92 in the neck of an Epiphone LP. The pickups sound open, clear and detailed when the settings on the amp and guitar are dialed back. Turn up the volume and things start getting interesting — a little bite and attitude, but still clear. Add gain to the amp and an overdrive pedal and they get dirty, even filthy, without losing definition when strumming a chord. The sound is exactly what I was looking/hoping for.
The pickups are definitely worth the price and the wait time for delivery.

These are fantastic pick-ups; they went into a Gibson ES 339, and boy, what a difference in the sound. Played thru my”95 Matchless lightning 15 or a Carr Mini Mercury, I am in tone heaven, Now, I have your pick-ups in 3 of my guitars (Tele, Strat & Les Paul) and can’t say enough about them, But, the P-90’s are something else, It’s hard to put the guitar down because it sounds so good!, Lindy hit it out of the ball park with these guys.
-
I love these pickups. I put them in a T-style partscaster (replacing a set of Duncan P-Rails) and a Yamaha RS620, and they’re damn near perfect to my ears. They cover everything from sweet articulate cleans to grinding metal adjacency, and they’re dead quiet. 5% overwind on the bridge, and .0022mfd tone cap (that’s not an extra zero – it’s one step up from the magic cap, and I’m digging it).
-
Buy them.

I must say, I’m very impressed with these pickups. They’re full-bodied and rich in their sound, but at the same time, they have snap, punch and crispness. How do they do that? Beats me, but they’re quite amazing.
I have a 20-year-old guitar with a beautiful Warmoth body — chambered walnut — that I had all but stopped playing. Through every different set of pickups I’ve installed in it, the guitar has never sounded great. I’ve pondered selling it or giving it away several times ofer the years. I just never could love it.
But these noiseless humbucker-sized P-90s have changed all that. In fact, this is now the guitar I first pick up when I enter the room. It sounds excellent and has lots of personality, always inviting me to sit down and play it!
If you don’t have a set of these, buy one. You won’t regret it. Honestly.

These pickups are perfect. Installed on a 1959 Epi LP, instead of Gibson Burstbuckers, the result is stunning… A much more open, much clearer sound which totally changes this beautiful guitar which suffered from too dark pickups. Congratulations to the FRALIN teams for the quality of their work..

Thanks for your help in choosing a P90! I went with the standard-wind Hum-canceling P90 humbucker-size. They are fantastic! I was concerned that the form-factor or the hum cancel might make the pickups less punchy or dynamic, but I am very happy with the frequency content and the feel. They are great! The black with nickel screws looks fantastic as well.

The hum-canceling P90s went into a 1975 Japanese Epiphone Wilshire. Just got the guitar back with the new pickups installed and it’s perfect. Just exactly the sound I was after, powerful and smooth yet with a clean attack. I’m a longtime single-coil guy (mostly Fender Strats) and the Epi humbuckers sounded muddy to my ear. The Fralins have the edge of a single coil with none of the “antenna effect” — you know, when you have to turn every which way onstage to find the spot with the least hummmmmmm. My installer had to take out a little wood under the neck pickup as the Fralins are a little taller than what came out of there. On the whole, glad I bought these!

I installed these in my Epiphone SG modern, and they’re really good pickups. As someone who usually plays Suhr SSV SSH+ and sets that have a more medium/modern output, it took me a second to get used to these pups and adjust my settings. On my axe fx III, I increased the input gain to compensate and I’m a big fan. These pups are super quiet, and they definitely have excellent articulation without sounding muddy at all. Customer service is great, and aesthetically, the raw nickel really goes with the SG modern.

Full disclosure that this is the first “P90” of any kind I’ve played ever. I’m usually a humbucker guy but wanted to add some versatility to my Flying V as it will be my main stage guitar in an eclectic covers band.
The sound is exactly what I was hoping for. More attack and articulation than a humbucker but with no hum at all. In fact this is quieter when idol than a humbucker. I may still be in my honeymoon phase but it might be my new favorite pickup.
So I can’t vouch for how it compares to real P90s but can certainly say if your humbuckers are tired or feel stale, I’d definitely try one of these.

Put a set of these (standard wind) into my Hamer Talladega to replace the original SD P90’s.
They brought this guitar back to life. The SD’s were so noisy I just did not like to play this guitar. Once I did the swap, I can’t put this down now. Not a hum to be found and they sound fantastic. Thank you, Lindy and team! -
Good bite, bark, punch, and definition!

Last February I saw a vid featuring the great Greg Koch demoing a Gibson custom shop, featherweight spec 1954 gold top Les Paul with P 90 pickups. When I heard those jazzy cleans I thought to myself; “That’s it, that’s the sound I’ve always wanted !”. I will always maintain that in the electric guitar world, there is nothing more underrated than a Les Paul played clean. My holy grail of tone, I called my guitar tech extraordinaire, Jon Mouradian, told him what I heard/wanted and he said; “Lindy Fralin is the guy”. Called Lindy; way dialed in, he couldn’t have been a cooler, nicer guy. He recommended these pickups. Ordered them straight away. Jon installed them along with 50’s vintage wiring from RS Guitar Works. Seven months later I’m happy to say that my tone search is over. Team Fralin absolutely nailed it ! Even better than what I heard on the Greg Koch vid, (The tone, not the playing !). I run my Paul through a custom made Princeton reverb, built by amp genius Bryan Noble. Speced exactly to a 1964 Blackface, the lone exception is that it has a 12″ speaker. The combo of this amp and my LP is unbelievable. Thanks to Lindy, my 02 gold top Les Paul Classic is as close as it can get to that 54. Those reliced nickel , pickup covers look badass cool too ! My eternal gratitude. Awesome, awesome pickups ! P90 hum cancelling pickups. I got the set. Dual coils are innovative and I chose these over some other handmade big name pickups for that reason. More than I expected really. The difference between a really good pickup and a so so pickup is very noticeable. Lindy recommended .047 caps in the circuit however I am trying out a .033 and a .015 first. They are very brite and I am probably going to change them out for the .047s later. They are PIOs so I’m going to wait till they get broke in a bit. The pickups are just starting to get the grit that P90s are known for and are powerful. Have that Strat quake hiding in the tone when I give the string a good attack. I got the 5% overwound to help get the tone a little darker, something like an older Les Paul Jr. sound. The black nickel covers compliment the black finish on the guitar and look great. It’s always a gamble when something is purchased over the net but this one paid off. Customer service was right there even before the pickups were delivered. Lindy’s outstanding reputation stands. Hail to the King.
