Lindy’s Fralin’Tron improves on models like our Sunbucker Blues, which features more of a “single-coil” clarity while keeping it 100% hum canceling. As a result, this model provides a tone with a focused wound string and a rounder treble string suitable for all music styles. In addition, our Fralin’Tron features a medium output – not too clean, not too hot, versatile, and will inspire you for decades to come.

Sound
When Lindy started designing the Fralin’Tron, he did so with a particular goal: to get as much clarity and articulation as possible out of this design.
We’re thrilled with the result! Our Fralin’Tron features a scooped midrange and defined bass and highs. In addition, you can expect more nuance out of the wound strings, unlike the original design. Furthermore, the treble strings have a round, warm quality, making our Fralin’Tron perfect for all styles of music – from clean to dirty. Lastly, this pickup features a dynamic and punchy attack that gives you back what you put into it.
Our manufacturing process allows us to achieve unparalleled quality control. Fralin’Trons consist of USA-Made bobbins, baseplates, magnets, and wire. We wind each pickup by hand, one at a time. Each pickup is wound using our proprietary “Sectioning” technique, which gives the pickup a sweet, clear tone.
Lastly, we assemble each pickup one at a time by hand, giving us unbeatable attention to detail. After assembly, we wax-pot the pickup to preserve the pickup and prevent microphonics.

Important:
It is important to check your pickup’s cavity before ordering a replacement pickup. Doing so will help you understand what mounting option works best for you.
Mounting Options:
We have three mounting options to install your new Fralin’Tron:
Standard Mounting
Standard Mounting involves screwing your Fralin’Tron directly to the guitar’s body using wood screws. These wood screws and springs are how the pickup both mounts and height adjusts.
Humbucker Mounting
Humbucker Mounting mounts the Fralin’Tron to a mounting ring using the installed mounting plate. Note: 1″ of clearance is needed under the pickup as the plate mounting screws extend about 1/2″ under the pickup.
Gretsch® Mounting
Gretsch® Mounting mounts the Fralin’Tron to a mounting ring with two height adjustment screws on the bass side and one height adjustment screw on the treble side. Note: 1″ of clearance is needed under the pickup as the plate mounting screws extend about 1/2″ under the pickup.
One More Mounting Type:
There is one more mounting option that can be a bit confusing. Some import guitars now feature a mounting bracket underneath the pickup. The pickup mounts to this plate. Then, the plate & pickup get installed into a mounting ring for height adjustment.
This mounting method is a bit more involved but is still simple to achieve. If you have this mounting plate underneath your pickup, re-use your existing mounting screws, springs, and mounting plate. Start by mounting the pickup to the plate first, then mount the plate to the pickup bezel or mounting ring.

It really depends on the shop capacity at the moment, and the size of your order. Feel free to give us a call for an accurate lead time. We always try to underpromise and overdeliver.

What pickup height do you recommend setting your Fralin’Trons to?
Our recommended Pickup Height is 1/8" (3.175mm) on the Bass Side and 1/16"( 1.5875mm) on the Treble Side. Measure by holding the corresponding side down at its highest fret and measure from the bottom of the string to the top of the pole piece.

I’ve built a few basses, but I recently built my first from-scratch 6-string, a semi-hollow body. Investigated a few different options for FilterTron variants, and FralinTrons looked promising. Got these installed this week and wow did I make the right choice. Have two in a neck/bridge configuration. It’s a 24-fret 25″ scale, which doesn’t leave a lot of room for spacing, but even as close as they are, the distinct bridge and neck tones come through. Bridge is bright, jangly and clear when clean, and overdrives nicely into a snarly lead. Neck sound is round and full. A delightful addition to my collection, which was noticeably lacking a “Tron” guitar until now.

I was searching for a detailed, smooth and slightly hot sounding pickup. And I had no idea what would happen with these pickups. I admit, that it is my first time buying PUs in that range of price. But I would and will do it again.
My Guitar tech (@nazarholikov) put them in my Flying V with only very little shaping of the pickguard. They work perfectly with the 500k knobs and sound detailed and clear and smooth that I‘ve Never heard before.

I had great expectations and they were exceeded! Clear, full bodied sound with fantastic note definition and presence, all without hum! Can’t say enough good things about these pickups, they’re definitely worth a try!

Fantastic! I wanted to convert my line6 variax 700 into normal guitar. First decided I wanted filtertron-style sound, then after much searching chose Fralin’Trons. Absolutely wonderful. Bright, punchy, very versatile sounds, wide range of tones. Especially w tone knob where w bridge I can be vintage 60s-sounding bright or a little more subdued on the treble but still cut through. Really glad I chose these. I play w some folks that do a wide variety of covers and this can cover it all. Great w pedals. One song it’s rockabilly and the next it’s blasting away w a fuzz pedal.

I came across a body for a Tele thinline build that was very inexpensive and since my nephew was gaga over mine i did the build for him . The body was routed for a filtertron in the neck position and standard tele for the bridge . Since most of my Tele’s have Fralin’s in them ,of course this was my choice .Fralin tron in the neck , Split steel poled tele in the bridge after a recommendation from the Fralin team and i couldn’t be happier . This guitar just screams tone ……and absolutely no hum . I played it straight into my amp with no pedals , big and fat was the sound , a very versatile combination , and if you wanted to still get some of that Tele twang it was there .Thank you Lindy Fralin for being innovative !!!!

The Fralin’Tron pickups make a huge difference in my Gretsch double jet! I’ve owned several double jets over the years and always sold them because the sound was weak. When I saw the Fralin’Tron ad, I bought another double jet and installed the pickups. The sound is amazing! The pickups have their own voice – not a repeat – and really stand out. Crisp, clean, and yet punchy depending upon how you dig in to the strings, make this a definite gig worthy guitar now! I have Fralins in a Tele and a Nashville Tele. Lindy called me to dial in the right pickups for the Nashville! Great customer service!

Lindy Fralin rocks. I have more guitars than one man deserves and typically lean heavily towards single coils..
I own three boutique Hahn telecaster style guitars (one with Fralin blues specials, one with vintage hots, and just installed Fralintrons in the third (chambered mahogany))
I have always enjoyed the growl and the thickness of filtertrons but always gravitated back to my single coil Fralins. The single coils are just more versatile..and there is nothing like the sound/tone of a Fralin single coil. I prefer Fralin pickups to anything Fender (and I have two masterbuilts) or TV Jones or Lollar.
But again it is my ear.
And what do I hear in these Fralintrons? Every thing you what in a “tron” but the personality and versatility of a slightly heavier and thicker single coil.
I have a new go to guitar often, but it is always one of the Fralin pickup guitars. Right now it is the Fralintron. Going to use this guitar at our next show. These pickups rock!
Love Fralins…
In fact I just ordered another set of Vintage Hots to replace the pickup’s in one of my masterbuilts, which is economic sacrilege. But the quest for tone always trumps $$$.

Man Lindy and his team have really outdone themselves this time. The Fralintron is better than I expected and I had pretty high expectations. The pickup has great definition, presence and has just the right amount of low end. The fralintron would seriously be the perfect pickup for a one pickup guitar. I have this pickup in the bridge of a 1966 Fender Coronado (hollow body) and it is special. I have the Fralin noiseless alnico p90 in the neck and they are a great pair. Fralin’s customer service is second to none.

My Fralin Trons are loaded in to a 1997 Gibson Les Paul Double Cut. On a good old rosewood neck, these pickups are the perfect level of bright, each string balanced, touch sensitive, focused articulation abounds. With only a clean boost (Greer Light Speed) and a Boss EQ to warm up my Princeton, I’ve found that the pickups shine best without any tone altering overdrive. This to me, is always a good sign for tone directly from the guitar, no ‘help’ required. I use Fralin Blues Specials in my T-Styles, and Fralin P-92s in another guitar. I love the company and its products and felt zero risk in trying a new product.
