Privacy Policy

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Contact forms

If you submit a message to us via our Contact Us page, we will retain your name, IP Address, and email address. We purge these messages after 1 year of submittal.

Orders

When you place an order, your Name, Address, IP Address, and any comments you left are stored in our database. For analytics reasons, we do not purge this information for 5 years. After 5 years, your information is purged from our server but stays on computer hard drives on our shop’s local network and backup drives.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site, you may opt-in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will set up several cookies to save your login information and screen display choices. Login cookies last two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. The login cookies will be removed if you log out of your account.

We use basic cookies to improve the browsing experience of our users. These cookies are a boolean value only and contain no information about your browsing session. For example, if you close a pop-up, we set a cookie to not show you the pop-up again for the duration of your session. These cookies expire from 1-2 weeks.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Analytics

We use the following Analytics services to serve our customers better: Metorik and Hotjar. We use these services in different ways, as described below:

  • Google Analytics: we analyze e-commerce conversion rates and landing pages. We also use Google Analytics to discover new ways to improve our website.
    • Update 2022: We have since ceased using Google Analytics.
  • Metorik: We use Metorik to provide a deeper sales analysis and email services such as order notifications, receipt sending, review requests, and more.
  • Hotjar: we use Hotjar to record certain customer sessions to discover places where we can optimize the site for a better customer experience. These recordings are anonymous and do not feature your IP address or text input fields. The features we collect are your origin country and device details – such as operating system, screen dimensions, and device manufacturer. We use this service to identify User Experience and User Interface improvements.

Who we share your data with

Hotjar and Metorik as described above.

How long we retain your data

The comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely if you leave a comment. This is so we can automatically recognize and approve any follow-up comments instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profiles. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

If you do not want your personal data collected by any of our 3rd party analytics platforms, feel free to email us at “[email protected]” to place your order manually. Doing so removes third-party trackers.
