Attack: Stiff & Percussive
As we’re sure you’re aware, a known challenge with P90 pickups is the hum. Rest assured: we’ve solved that problem and found a unique, versatile sonic footprint where the P-92 fits perfectly.
The P-92 features a cleaner and more articulate overall tone. It’s more “polite” than our Hum Cancelling P90s, and much clearer-sounding than our Pure P.A.F. That said, the P-92 offers you a thick, warm midrange accompanied by a stiffer and rounder treble – perfect for many music styles.
The P-92 is quick to break up, but you’ll find that it’s still clearer, like traditional Vintage P90s. Built with alnico V magnets, we use 42-gauge or 43 gauge wire depending on the strength you need.
When playing clean, you’ll find that this pickup has a thicker, bold tone with a stiff high end. With distortion, you’ll find that the grind is dirtier than our Big Single, but not as much as a typical Humbucker.
Players who want a sparkly-top end should look at our Twangmasters, as our P-92’s sound more like a Gibson.
It all starts here: our manufacturing process allows us to achieve unparalleled quality control. Our P-92’s consist of USA-Made bobbins, baseplates, magnets, and wire.
We wind each pickup by hand, one at a time using our proprietary “Sectioning” technique. This gives the pickup a sweet, bright tone. We assemble each pickup one at a time, by hand. This allows us to achieve unbeatable attention to detail. Finally, we wax-pot the pickup to prevent microphonics and to preserve the pickup for years to come.

More Information:
1 Ohm Readings can vary due to a multitude of factors, including ambient temperature, multimeter calibration, different wire batches, and other factors. Due to this, ohm readings are approximate. Learn more about Ohm Readings here.
2 We recommend a 0.02mfd Cap Value on most guitar and bass pickups. The exception is a Magic Cap, which Lindy prefers on the Bridge Pickup of Fender® guitars only. Learn More about Caps Here.
* Due to the unique design of this pickup, ohm readings are not useful when comparing to other models. This pickup is medium output, and leans to a cleaner, clearer tone.

-
Will this pickup fit my instrument?
Check our "Sizing" tab for the size of the pickup. No Sizing tab? Check under the product image gallery for dimensions.
-
Is your Lead Time of 3-4 Weeks accurate?
It really depends on the shop capacity at the moment, and the size of your order. Feel free to give us a call for an accurate lead time. We always try to underpromise and overdeliver.
-
What pickup height do you recommend setting your P-92s to?
Our recommended Pickup Height is 1/8" (3.175mm) on the Bass Side and 1/16"( 1.5875mm) on the Treble Side. Measure by holding the corresponding side down at its highest fret and measure from the bottom of the string to the top of the pole piece.
Great, brighter Humbucker alternative. Brighter than I expected with the screw pole pieces but still very musical and never harsh. Wake up your dull, humbucker equipped guitar!
I have the P92s in a Telecaster Deluxe American Professional 2016…they’re the most versatile pickups I’ve ever owned. I play on tour for Jamey Johnson and he covers a lot of musical ground. The P92s make it easy to dial into to warm jazzy tones, dirty southern rock and clean chicken pickin’ country .I manage to cover it all on the one guitar. I would definitely purchase again.
Lovely pickup! Was searching something different for T-style guitar with CuNiFe WRHB in neck. The looks matched too.
Haven’t own a P90 guitar before, but long time wanted one. With minimal hum, because playing environment is quite “dirty” electrically (all kinds of interference sources).
Alone P-92 is gritty and gnarly, but still articulate. Organic with an edge, responsive, breaks up beautifully, and when using the tone pot can reach jazzier sounds if needed. In the middle position it blends beautifully with Wide Range Humbucker when correct adjustments and balance was found. Brings certain in the mix “ding” while WRHB offers “bloom” 😀 .. I’ve got an out of phase switch too and when using volume pots with it, yet another world opens.
Was first little worried how it pairs with a hottish humbucker, but result is great. At least for my purposes (blues, grunge, punkish stuff, rock). P-92 carries itself and also work as a pair. Although used actually few days adjusting and finding the sweet spots.

P 92 pickup set
I put these in a Gibson SG and they sound amazing. They are very clear and balanced. They really come alive when pushed into distortion. I couldn’t be happier. The youtube videos represent them very well.
I bought a pair of gold P92s from MacDaddy Music. Installed in an Epiphone Lucille, they turned a dark, somewhat muddy-sounding guitar without a lot of personality into a real gem. Highly recommended.

I put a P-92 front pickup on an ES-335. To me, it sounds better than the humbucker did. I play a Strat a lot of the time and the P-92 is more reminiscent of a strat front pick up than the humbucker was. It is also dead quiet, no hum.
P-92s in a D’Angelico 335 style
I swapped out the stock Kent Armstrong humbuckers with the Fralin P-92s in my D’Angelico 335 style guitar. The P-92s sound really clear as I had hoped. The stock humbuckers sounded muddy to my ear – good for blues, perhaps. Not so good for jazz and Latin/African music that I often play. To my surprise, the P92s also improved the dynamic response of the instrument. The “touch” of the guitar is improved/enhanced with the P-92s. I have a Godin archtop (Uptown) that plays and sounds very good. It has Godin humbuckers. The P-92s have a better dynamic touch/response than these pickups. I am considering P-92s for this guitar…haven’t decided. I appreciate Lindy’s personal input. It helped a lot. Thanks, Boston musician, Mark Torgerson
