The Fralin P-J Set includes our Stock P-Bass pickup, and our noiseless and rich Split Jazz Bridge. This set is noiseless in all positions, with a fat and rich tone. Our Split Jazz Bridge has a Left-Right coil design, which sounds better than stacked coils. The Fralin P-J Set gives you more snarl on your bridge and deep lows on your neck.
All of our bass pickups feature hand-built bobbins and hand-wound clarity. Our manufacturing process allows us to achieve unparalleled quality control. This P-J Set consists of local fiberboard and USA-Made Magnets. We wind each pickup by hand, one at a time. Each pickup is wound using our proprietary “Sectioning” technique. This gives the pickup a sweet, clear tone. Finally, we wax-pot the pickup to preserve the pickup and prevent microphonics.

Is your Lead Time of 2-3 Weeks accurate?
It really depends on the shop capacity at the moment, and the size of your order. Feel free to give us a call for an accurate lead time. We always try to underpromise and overdeliver.

What pickup height do you recommend setting your P-J Sets to?
Our recommended Pickup Height is 1/8" (3.175mm) on the Bass Side and 1/16"( 1.5875mm) on the Treble Side. Measure by holding the corresponding side down at its highest fret and measure from the bottom of the string to the top of the pole piece.

I got this PJ set with 5% overwind and I really love the thicker tone. They are very beefy sounding and have more vibe than the American Ultra PJ vintage set I had stock in my 4 string. Very well tuned and easy drop in install.

The final piece of the jigsaw for me upgrading my Fender Player Series Jaguar bass was the pickups. I have changed everything now barring the body of the bass. It has a status graphite neck which made the sound ultra clean HD like. While i liked the stock pickups i opted on a set of Fralins and rather unconventionally did my own PJ set ordering an overwound 5% P bass pup and a normal wound split J pup. The P bass overwound has given a darker, fuller in life tone, yet with crystal like highs (compared to the stock) which is great with the graphite neck. The J pup lets me dial in that growl just enough with the pickup blend to make it a force combined with the P. I dropped the height of the P right down to about 5mm above the scratch plate and have the J quite close to the strings on the treble side. These pickups combined with the J Retro Pre amp i have in the bass are a fantastic combination. Would recommend Fralin pickups from now on whole heartedly!

I recently bought a Fender American Performer Precision, but did not love the stock pickups and controls. I rewired the controls, installed a Fralin P-J Set with cream covers, and now it is hard to put this bass down. I love these pickups. They punch, they growl, and they keep the fundamentals clear and controlled. I highly recommend them and would buy them again.

I recently purchased a set of P-J Bass guitar pickups. As I have come to learn, Lindy takes the time to go over your order to ensure you have chosen the correct pickup configuration, (over/under wound percentages) that will help you achieve “your tone”. I also bought pots to upgrade the electronics on my new Bass. Again Lindy assisted in helping choose the correct pots to compliment the pickups I ordered. I have recommended to my musician friends to check out Lindy Fralin pickups if they are looking to upgrade their Guitar or Bass guitar. I would purchase from LF again.

I purchased these P/J pickups in white for my Fender Mustang PJ Bass and they are amazing!
Even during the pandemic Fralin we’re excellent with shipment an communication and they were sent to Portugal!
The pickups are noiseless and have such a warm and well-rounded tone.

Wow. What a difference. Perfectly balance between the P and J pickups. Rich thick complex vintage tone with no mud and plenty of crystal clear highs without no harshness. Not Hi Fi sounding, but every frequency is there if you want it. Very responsive to hand position and dynamic touch. Every note is a little bit of plush lush textured full rich wonderful sonic goodness. It’s such a pleasure playing thru these pickups. They make me feel good all over. Everything I wanted and more. That old P bass is a brand new animal now.

Perfect Set for Fender Ultra PJ
These pickups have been an awesome upgrade to the factory set (which was not bad by the way). They are nicely balanced, with a smooth combination of growl and chunk- all very musical. I use them with nickel strings and love the overall tone when using either pickup (or both). Before putting these on, I installed a set of Aguilar PJ’s and while they were an improvement over the stock pups, these are head and shoulders better still. Have Fralin Pup’s in a Fender Geddy Lee Jazz, and this Ultra P; they are amazing pickups.

Just installed this in a Fender American Ultra PJ bass. I wanted to remove the active electronics from the bass and go with a full passive rig. After installing a VVTT wiring harness, and these pickups the bass has really come alive. Granted, I am more of a passive tone guy, but I’m sure these would sound good with the active set up as well. The tone is clear and punchy, excellent harmonics, and a throaty jazz tone on the bridge pickup. The P pickup has a vintage tone but sounds better to me than the stock Fender pup that came in the bass.
I also had ran an Aguilar PJ configuration in this bass before putting the Fralins in and while I liked the balance of the Aguilar set, they had a more “polite” sound than the Fralins- which was a bit surprising frankly. The overwind on the bridge pickup seems to give these a more aggressive tone while still remaining balanced. Highly recommend this set!

The best pickup replacement for fender
So many people have a Fender or Squier bass that feels amazing to play but sounds meh in some way. Fralins are the answer. Swap those lame 90s pickups with these and give your old bass a new lease on life!

Overtones galore
This is for the P-J set. I’m not a bridge pickup player as I always favored the deepness of the middle. For reference, I’m playing a Fender Mustang (30″ scale) through and Ampeg practice BA-110 finger style. I have been converted by this bridge pickup. The overtones are amazing. Great dynamics and sounds great at any volume. And it bumps like a bass should.
The middle also is clear of mud and maintains the deep fundamental. I’m sure it’ll have it’s day of play as it does put a smile on my face. Together they both give that usual open woody tone, but damn those overtones.
Also, these are not mid-scooped like modern pickups. They have life and allow me to EQ subtravily on my amp as opposed to additive. Much preferred.
I’ll be eye-balling more pickups for my geetz in the future.
For note, I researched many pickups before landing on these. No regrets, all smiles. -
Best pickups ever
Put these pickups in my Fender PJ; they are fantastic. Noiseless and versatile. I paired them with a Mike Pope preamp. Wide range of tonal possibilities in passive and active mode. Highly recommended!!! -

P/J Standard Wind Set
Wow. Fantastic upgrade. What surprised me the most when I first played them was the clarity in the upper range of the neck pickup. Not treble-y but just a clear and clean tone. It completely blows away the P sets I have. As a set%2C they just worked and sounded great across the entire range unlike other sets I%92ve tried that seem to lose it as you move the balance towards the bridge. Thanks!

I’ve been using the P pickup. So I knew I would like it. I was floored by the tone of the split J … just the right amount of bite. I installed these on an early 90s MIJ Fender Jass Bass Special.

I put these PJ pickups on my Precision Plus because of the reviews I had read about them. When I bought this bass the Lace pickups had been replaced with something else and they were extremely noisey. There was also no volume balance when switching from the P to the J pickup. All this was cured with the new Fralin PJ pickup set. The tone is just right, the balance between the pickups is great now, and now it doesn’t matter if there are flourescent lights, fans or whatever in the room, I don’t get that awful crackling and hum from the bridge pickup. Would I recommend these pickups to anyone else – you bet I would 150%. Thank you Lindy!
