Sound
Get excited – Fralin P90s covers an impressive, broad tonal spectrum.
Featuring a clear neck and an overwound bridge, our P90s have that undeniable thick Single-Coil tone with a distinct wound string, and percussive treble string. The midrange is full, thick, and warm – perfect for adding depth to your guitar.
Are you looking for the traditional Fender-type sparkle? You won’t find that here. The Fralin P90 is all Gibson! For that, we recommend checking out our Hum Cancelling Alnico Rod model.
Whether playing clean or dirty, we guarantee the “3-dimensional depth” that the Fralin P90 provides will inspire you for years to come. Single notes are punchy and clear without sounding tinny, and chords break up with a tight compression that’s guaranteed to push your amp.
And with a hand-wound scatter-wound coil, your pickup is as unique as you are – each coil features a subtly unique voice that will undoubtedly inspire you. Experience what you’ve been missing and give your guitar the P90 voice it was meant to have with the Fralin P90.
It all starts here: our manufacturing process allows us to achieve unparalleled quality control. Lindy Fralin’s P90 in a Humbucker Cover consists of a precision injection mold and USA-Made Steel Screws. We use USA-Made Alnico 4 magnets to make this model scream. Each bobbin is carefully inspected and cleaned before winding.
We wind each pickup by hand, one at a time using our proprietary “Sectioning” technique. This winding technique gives our pickups a sweet, clear tone. Finally, we wax-pot the pickup to and prevent microphonics and preserve the pickup for years to come.

Hey Steven, any standard humbucker will work just fine. Just pay attention to your string spacing. If you want a traditional P90 tone, this is a great choice. We also have it in a hum-cancelling version.

Hey Mark, we don't have the covers, bobbins, or baseplates to make the P90 Humbucker in an F-Spaced version - we apologize for the inconvenience.
I have a 3-pickup guitar currently with humbuckers and would like to put in p-90s. Do you make a set of three with slightly increasing output moving from neck pickup, to middle pickup, and then to the bridge? Or do you have a recommendation?

Hey Uri, we normally recommend (2) Neck outputs (one for the middle) and (1) Bridge output - thanks for your question!
Can you please suggest the best humbucker sized bridge pickup to create as much tele twang as possible in a PRS Studio nearfield guitar? The guitar has a fixed bridge and has a dark tone overall. Thank you!

Hey Jeff, I'd recommend the Twangmaster (if you can accomodate 50mm string spacing at your bridge) or the Sunbucker (Available in multiple sizes).
hey, can you guys put a gibson quick connect on one of your humbucker sized p-90s?

Q hey, can you guys put a gibson quick connect on one of your humbucker sized p-90s?A
Hey Mike, as it turns out, we do not offer the Quick Connect system - actually, we recommend removing it altogether as while it does make swapping pickups easier, you are putting a plastic connection where a soldered connection should be. Upgrading to a soldered harness would be the best upgrade for your tone and reliability.
This is my second pair of Fralin pickups. I put a set of stock P90s in my old Yamaha SBG-200 and they’ve really breathed new life into that guitar. I’d been really falling in love with the sound of P90s for a while but didn’t have any guitar equipped with them, so these humbucker-sized pickups made for a very easy drop in replacement. They are so sweet sounding and very versatile, capable of covering tones for jazz, blues, rock, and I’m sure so much more. I am very happy with my purchase and I play this guitar much more now!
Obviously made with “la tête, les mains, les oreilles et le coeur”,
thank you
Great Pickup Great Service
Beautiful P-90 single coil sound and classy looks. I like that they drop right in to the humbucker routes on my ES335 Dot without any modifications to the body or having to buy additional hardware. The neck pickup had a phase issue when I received it but Lindy paid for shipping and fixed it and gave me a complimentary t-shirt and a pre-wired push-pull volume pot to switch to out of phase if I desire. Class A company and Class A pickups.

Would like to buy HB p90 for single pickup Eastman AR371 (ES-175 copy). I play swing and early 50’s style jazz (like early Herb Ellis tone) so relatively bright as far as jazz tones go, but still fat sounding. Two questions please… 1] I’m considering an under-wound but thought I’d check and see if that’s what you recommend and if 2% or 5%. I’m using Thomastik flatwound .12s and acoustically the guitar has jangly clear highs that are somewhat more pronounced than the mids/low mids, while the bass is well balanced. I’d like to have some room to move on the tone control, making the tone darker and fatter but without losing too much clarity. 2] Second, is the “matte black” cover plastic? And will that have any noticeable effect on the tone compared to nickel? Thanks for your help
Hey William, as a jazz player myself, I’d recommend going with the Stock output, especially if your guitar is bright acoustically. They are modeled after the early ’50s P90s. They are still plenty clean and bright without being too thick and dark. The Matte Black Cover is Nickel Silver – not plastic.
Mind Blown – Again
This is my fourth set / pickup from Lindy and again a mind-blowing experience. I paired it with a CS Nocaster Bridge pickup in an Ash Thinline Tele. With the help from Jon, I went for the 5% underwound option. Despite that this is my first P-90, it’s beyond words how great it sounds. It sings in a very rich and full voice. Not fat, but very warm and resonant.
p90 humbucker
First off dealing with Fralin is a pleasure, called to get some information on which pickups would suit my guitar and the staff was very helpful. Then they suggested I speak with Lindy himself and to leave my number and he would call me back which he did a couple of hours later and we had a nice discussion on which ones would suit my needs and he was right on the money. the p90 humbuckers fit in perfectly and sound great I am completely satisfied with my purchase and would make the Fralin pickups my go-to resource. Thank You Lindy and staff for your help and Quality products, 2020 Epiphone standard 50s goldtop
I have two Ibanez guitars that are on the cheaper end (AF55 and AF75), but they play fantastic and I wanted a better tone. I tried some Phat Cat 90s and while it was ok, they were just to sterile and thin sounding.
I decided to take a chance on these Fralin P90s and wow, they really make my guitars’ sound exactly as I hoped. These picks are full sounding and sound warmer, not sterile, with lots of definition.
These will be staying in my guitar.
