Our Jazz Bass Pickups feature Hand-Built bobbins and hand-wound clarity. Our manufacturing process allows us to achieve unparalleled quality control. These Jazz Bass Pickups consist of local fiberboard and USA-Made Magnets. We wind each pickup by hand, one at a time. Each pickup is wound using our proprietary “Sectioning” technique. This gives the pickup a sweet, clear tone. Finally, we wax-pot the pickup to preserve the pickup and prevent microphonics.

Sound
Fralin Jazz Bass Pickups offer a wide tonal range. They are wound to 60’s Specifications, which give them more output and balance. Expect a sweeter tone, with a warm midrange. Also, you’ll hear top-end sparkle and clarity. Nuances will come to life as you notice increased presence. They will break up late and stay clean longer.

Our Pickups are dynamic – they’ll get punchy if you dig into them. They’ll have top-end spank when you slap them. You’ll also notice they’ll stay soft and dynamic when you play light. Finally, these Jazz Bass Pickups are for those who are not happy with the tone from stock pickups. These tend to be sweeter-sounding, not aggressive. You’ll wonder why you didn’t make the switch earlier.
We offer (3) winding options to help you determine the perfect tone:
- For an era-authentic 60’s tone, use our “Stock Wind”, or, choose “N/A” under output preference
- For a thicker midrange and fewer highs, choose +5%. This will reduce the highs by 5%, and increase the lows and mids by 5%.
- For an even thicker tone than the +5%, you can opt for +10%. This is perfect for anyone looking for an aggressively strong midrange and dark tone. Perfect for balancing out a bright sounding bass.
- If you’re looking for 70’s Jazz Bass tone, use our -5% wind. This will increase the highs by 5%, and decrease the mids by 5%.

Hey Brad, it depends on the level of guitar - if you have an American Standard Jazz Bass, the pots and electronics are really good quality. If you have a MIM bass, it's worth upgrading the electronics.

Hey Ray, go with the Stock Output if you're looking for the '60s sound. Go with the +5% if you're looking for the same tone, just a little louder and beefier. We always recommend 250K pots and 0.02 or 0.05 caps.
Hello, I have a Fender MIJ Marcus Miller Jazz Bass and the stock pickups sound weak and thin to me, so I’m planning on upgrading to a set of Lindy Fralins. Hey Adam, I would go with the +5% Jazz Bass pickups. They feature a thicker midrange while retaining brightness.

Finally found The sound I was looking for. Set in my simple squire J bass, I’m not using any of my other gear anymore. Thanks Lindy Frailin! Warm, round and thumpy as I like it!
Excellent! I requested to have 2% overwound pickups based on my conversation with Lindy. Not too bright and not muddy. Goes well with a Sadowsky SBP-1 pedal.

I replaced the stock Yamaha BB350 jazz set with the +10 configuration on both pickups. I was expecting a bigger tine shift, but instead I got a cleaner, less saturated sound. I am very impressed by the sound and the build quality. Night and day compared to agular and Seymour Duncan. You’ll be in all my basses in due time. Thanks Lindy! Awesome product.

I recently put a stock set of these in my CIJ Geddy Lee Jazz bass, what a difference. I now have no issues finding a great tone that sits in the mix with the other instruments in my band. My only regret is not buying them sooner.

I was looking for new bass pick ups for my 2008 Mexi Jazz bass and a good friend of mine suggested the Fralin stock Jazz PUP. I’ve been a pro musician for nearly 3 decades. I am a multi instrumentalist. [ https://www.carykeyzmusic.com/ ] My my main instrument is Keyboards, but I’ve toured in several Led Zeppelin tributes through out the US. I’m getting back into Zeppelin again and was really looking for the 60’s 70’s era Jonesy sound. I put the Fralin stock Jazz pick ups in my $350 mexican jazz bass and now not only does it have that authentic sound and tone I was looking for, but I would put my bass up against any $4,000 american jazz or sadowsky bass any day! I have a set in my 04 Lakland Joe Osborn 4 and thanks to the LF pups it’s my best sounding jazz bass.
The “just right” sound. My second set of Fralins. Got the sonic character I wanted – very happy in that respect. I forced the fit somewhat, so I can’t make vertical adjustments. My fault! Even so, balance is good, and the sound is awesome!
