Our Jazz Bass Pickups feature Hand-Built bobbins and hand-wound clarity. Our manufacturing process allows us to achieve unparalleled quality control. These Jazz Bass Pickups consist of local fiberboard and USA-Made Magnets. We wind each pickup by hand, one at a time. Each pickup is wound using our proprietary “Sectioning” technique. This gives the pickup a sweet, clear tone. Finally, we wax-pot the pickup to preserve the pickup and prevent microphonics.

Sound
Fralin Jazz Bass Pickups offer a wide tonal range. They are wound to 60’s Specifications, which give them more output and balance. Expect a sweeter tone, with a warm midrange. Also, you’ll hear top-end sparkle and clarity. Nuances will come to life as you notice increased presence. They will break up late and stay clean longer.

Our Pickups are dynamic – they’ll get punchy if you dig into them. They’ll have top-end spank when you slap them. You’ll also notice they’ll stay soft and dynamic when you play light. Finally, these Jazz Bass Pickups are for those who are not happy with the tone from stock pickups. These tend to be sweeter-sounding, not aggressive. You’ll wonder why you didn’t make the switch earlier.
We offer (3) winding options to help you determine the perfect tone:
- For an era-authentic 60’s tone, use our “Stock Wind”, or, choose “N/A” under output preference
- For a thicker midrange and fewer highs, choose +5%. This will reduce the highs by 5%, and increase the lows and mids by 5%.
- For an even thicker tone than the +5%, you can opt for +10%. This is perfect for anyone looking for an aggressively strong midrange and dark tone. Perfect for balancing out a bright sounding bass.
- If you’re looking for 70’s Jazz Bass tone, use our -5% wind. This will increase the highs by 5%, and decrease the mids by 5%.

Is your Lead Time of 2-3 Weeks accurate?
It really depends on the shop capacity at the moment, and the size of your order. Feel free to give us a call for an accurate lead time. We always try to underpromise and overdeliver.

What pickup height do you recommend setting your Jazz Basss to?
Our recommended Pickup Height is 1/8" (3.175mm) on the Bass Side and 1/16"( 1.5875mm) on the Treble Side. Measure by holding the corresponding side down at its highest fret and measure from the bottom of the string to the top of the pole piece.

Excellent! I requested to have 2% overwound pickups based on my conversation with Lindy. Not too bright and not muddy. Goes well with a Sadowsky SBP-1 pedal.

Best premium solution
I replaced the stock Yamaha BB350 jazz set with the +10 configuration on both pickups. I was expecting a bigger tine shift, but instead I got a cleaner, less saturated sound. I am very impressed by the sound and the build quality. Night and day compared to agular and Seymour Duncan. You’ll be in all my basses in due time. Thanks Lindy! Awesome product. -

I recently put a stock set of these in my CIJ Geddy Lee Jazz bass, what a difference. I now have no issues finding a great tone that sits in the mix with the other instruments in my band. My only regret is not buying them sooner.

I was looking for new bass pick ups for my 2008 Mexi Jazz bass and a good friend of mine suggested the Fralin stock Jazz PUP. I’ve been a pro musician for nearly 3 decades. I am a multi instrumentalist. [ https://www.carykeyzmusic.com/ ] My my main instrument is Keyboards, but I’ve toured in several Led Zeppelin tributes through out the US. I’m getting back into Zeppelin again and was really looking for the 60’s 70’s era Jonesy sound. I put the Fralin stock Jazz pick ups in my $350 mexican jazz bass and now not only does it have that authentic sound and tone I was looking for, but I would put my bass up against any $4,000 american jazz or sadowsky bass any day! Great job guys, you’ve got a Fralin customer for life! Incredible pick ups!

The “just right” sound. My second set of Fralins. Got the sonic character I wanted – very happy in that respect. I forced the fit somewhat, so I can’t make vertical adjustments. My fault! Even so, balance is good, and the sound is awesome!

Amazing traditional Jazz Bass sound. I have a 97 MIM Jazz Bass. That bass is very resonant and has always sounded great, but still had the stock pickups. In the mid 90s Fender Jazz Basses had two neck size pickups instead of the conventional slightly longer bridge pickup that most other years have. this turned me away from trying to replace the pickups. I called Fralin and told them about it, and that I wanted my bass to sound as close to a 1963 as possible. They were able to make me a (neck) size bridge. I received my pickups a week later. The sound is incredible. The bass sounds better than the 64 reissue that’s at my local music shop. These pickups are warm and punchy. Much clearer than the stock ceramic pickups that came in the bass. Thanks!!

Just upgraded my Fender CS Jazz Bass with a set of the 5%s, all I can say is (as cliche as it may sound) that they made me fall in love with my bass all over gain.
Would definitely go for another set of these if I ever get my hands on another Jazz Bass.

I just purchased a set of 5% pickups for my late 90s deluxe active Fender jazz. I wasn’t sure if they would work well with my bass’s active preamp, so I reached out to these guys to ask their opinion. They were quick to respond to my email and I appreciated that. They shipped to me very fast and were packaged well. I tried them out during our church service today for the first time and they are fantastic. Full, rich tone that I didn’t know my bass was capable of. Now I just have to decide what bass to upgrade next!

Just replaced the stock pups on my 2016 American Elite Jazz bass with the Fralin single coil 5’s and it sounds great. Very happy with the choice made. One thing that I find wonderful is to call Lindy on the phone , he actually answers the phone and loves talking with you about your wants and needs! Rare in this day and age to have someone who cares! I made the right choice!!

Using the Lindy Fralin pickups is an enormously excellent experience, just minutes ago in a conversation I was trying to find words to describe what pickups do in general and what a spectacular job of doing that the Lindy Fralin pickups do. Both my Jazz basses now have your pickups on them, and it is a bit of a quandary as to which one to use at any given time. I may be approaching bass enlightenment. ?? . . . oh, good, I can copy/paste a couple of these to add emphasis . . . the Lindy Fralin Jazz pickups are more clear and deeper than I ever imagined anything could be on my Jazz basses. An interesting thing is developing–I am not casting about looking for that next bass, that next variation on tone that might satisfy. It’s right there in front of me. Thank you! –Fredrick -
Installed a stock set of Lindy Fralin pickups on my ’83 Jazz Bass (with maple neck) about 7 years ago. Very smooth buttery sound, not overly boomy or trebly – just right! A huge improvement from stock pickups. Thinking of getting another set for a ’09 Mexi Roadworn Jazz.

My stock pickups on the Jazz are amazing and wonderful! Words I use to describe them include clear, solid, articulate, even. It will be some time before I begin to stretch their capabilities, and that is an excellent situation to be in. The pickups practically sold themselves to my bass instructor, he tried my Jazz at a jam we were both at, he will be ordering a pair right . . . about . . . now . . . there will be a set of Lindy Fralin pickups on my second Jazz in short order. Well done, folks, very well done!

I recently purchased a ( 5) jazz bridge pickup from the lindy fralin website to match the existing one on my american standard jazz bass and I must say I was not disappointed! What a great tone these things give out. I’m extremely happy with the result and will certainly recommend these pickups to all who desire to upgrade their american standard jazz bass.

The pickups in my 64 J-bass were really starting to become microphonic. I’ve had good experience with Fralin pickups in the past on one of my 70’s J-basses. So before I decided to rewind them and diminish their value I decided to try the Fralin 10% overwound pickups. My pre-CBS J-bass has never sound better. With this particular bass I’m after the John Paul Jones – Noel Redding type of sound and the new pickups nailed it! I also ordered them with the pickup covers removed so I could put the new pickups in the old covers. I wish I made this move years ago.
