Sound
Our High Output Humbucker is the thickest and loudest Humbucker we make. It has a very aggressive and dark tone. It’s beefier and more aggressive than our Modern P.A.F. Expect a thick-sounding single-string note that’s quick to break up. Chords will sound full and crunchy with a good amount of soft-clip compression. The High Output Humbucker is best with distortion, especially with single-notes. The grind is thick and smooth, and single notes will sustain and sing. Because this humbucker is so strong, it’s ideal for coil-tapping. This will leave the single-coil pickup strong enough to play well with others. Best used in a bridge position, the High Output Humbucker will sound great and have a warm, round pick attack.
Our manufacturing process allows us to achieve unparalleled quality control. High Output Humbuckers consist of USA-Made bobbins, baseplates, magnets, and wire. We wind each pickup by hand, one at a time. Each pickup is wound using our proprietary “Sectioning” technique. This gives the pickup a sweet, clear tone.
We assemble each pickup one at a time, by hand. This allows us to achieve unbeatable attention to detail. Finally, we wax-pot the pickup to preserve the pickup and prevent microphonics.

Hi! I have absolutely incredible TWANG MASTER (single coil in humbacker-case) on neck (PRS standart CE22), and I want to buy and install on bridge another Fralin's stuff - High Output. But, my volume pot already is 250K (recommended version for TWANGMASTER). For High Output pickup recommended 500K volume pot. Is it normal if I leave 250K with mixed configuration TWANGMASTER+High Output? Thank you

Hey Marat, I'd personally recommend the Modern PAF instead of the High Output if you're looking to get a strong tone and still sound good on 250K, or, you can use the Resistor modification and switch your master volume to a 500K pot. Use a 470K resistor on the switch to make the Twangmaster "see" a 250K pot. More information on that modification is here.

Hey Gregg, you can go either way. The High Output bridge will be stronger and thicker-sounding than the Sunbucker Blues Bridge. A nice option would be a Modern PAF Bridge and a Sunbucker Blues Neck.
Are you able to do humbuckers with a plain cover? ( as in no screw holes)
-
Q Are you able to do humbuckers with a plain cover? ( as in no screw holes)A
Hey Micah, yes, we can possibly make a double slug bobbin and use one of our No-Hole covers (check out our Big Single for the look). This would be a custom pickup and ineligible for exchange.
Can you Coil Tap this model?
-
Q Can you Coil Tap this model?A
Yep! Choose 3-Conductor Lead and use our diagrams here. This model is strong enough to split as-is (no resistor needed).
What Lead should I choose?
-
Q What Lead should I choose?A If you have a Gibson style instrument with separate volume pots for each pickup, go with the Gibson Shielded Braided lead. Fender style instruments or players with coil-tapping or phase reversing needs, go with 3-Conductor. If you want the maximum options, go with 4-Conductor.
What Output should I choose?
-
Q What Output should I choose?A Our Stock Set of High Outputs reads 11.7K in the Neck and 13.7K in the Bridge. If you want a stronger and darker tone, go with a higher output. If you want a clearer and more open tone, go with a lower output.
What spacing should I choose?
-
Q What spacing should I choose?A Gibson style instruments are 49.2mm on the neck and bridge. Fender style instruments use a 50mm neck and a 52mm bridge.
What’s the difference between this model and the Modern P.A.F.?
-
Q What’s the difference between this model and the Modern P.A.F.?A The Modern P.A.F. has fewer turns per coil and uses a weaker magnet, giving this pickup a warmer and thicker tone than the Modern P.A.F. In a nutshell, this pickup is the highest output pickup we make, with lots of volume and thickness.
What Spacing should I choose?
-
Q What Spacing should I choose?A
It depends on your setup:
- Standard Gibson Spacing (Les Paul, SG) is 49.2mm
- Standard Fender Spacing (Telecaster, Stratocaster) is 50mm in the Neck and 52mm in the Bridge.

-
Q Hi, i have a Kramer Baretta and the cavity of the humbucker is slanted, which spacing should i get?A Check out our article on measuring string spacing, here. Most likely you will need a F-Spaced spacing (50mm/52mm) as most tremolo bridges have a slightly wider spacing than the tune-o-matic bridges most commonly found on Gibsons.

The amount of clarity you get compared with the amount of grind on these pickups is unmatched. This is the way high gain should sound. I love them on my Gibson Hawk and Les Paul so much that I’m getting Fralin single coils for all my Fenders!
Incredible humbucker!
I am now installing these on all of my guitars!
Can’t live without the high output Fralins!
They F…….Rock!
JP
I use it in combination with the Blues Special. It is high-powered but well balanced and sounds great. The coil split is perfect and it’s my favorite in recent years.
Installed a HO humbucker in my 1988 V90 flying V single. Very pleased with the look of the zebra bobbins, and the tone is incredible!
Thanks for the tone guys!
Incredible pickup! I bought a HSS set with High output bridge humbucker and High output single coils to my American made Charvel So Cal. All I can say is that these pickups blew me away. PERFECT HSS set.
Very well balanced and amazing tone in every position. And don’t let the “high output” thing fool you. They are very responsive pickups with great dinamics.
Have several Gibsons with your pick ups they are great sounding. I really like the new Alnico V magnet in the High Output models your now making. I do have a set of pure PAF in my Flying V . Im just now having a set to have my neck out of phase ive had the bobbin flipped already. I dig how it looks & will like it even more once its really out of phase. Timothy Linneman
I like them. I had to drill and enlarge the hole between the pickup cavity and the back cavity to let both 4-wire cables through. They sound good and it’s pretty cool to be able to split coils or switch to parallel.
I just got the Fralin HO humbucker with AL2 customized for my PRS SAS. They are exactly what I was looking for. A very thick beefy sounding pickup with a lot of overtones. I am finally using my bridge HB more as it is less twangy and less glassy. I am very happy with these pickups.
I am more than pleased by the character and versatility of those pickups.
My high expectations were shattered when I heard those pickups in my guitar for the first time.
My guitar is now distinctly alive in all 6 configurations.
Congratulations to Lindy!
