Sound
Our High Output Humbucker is the thickest and loudest Humbucker we make. It has a very aggressive and dark tone. It’s beefier and more aggressive than our Modern P.A.F. Expect a thick-sounding single-string note that’s quick to break up. Chords will sound full and crunchy with a good amount of soft-clip compression. The High Output Humbucker is best with distortion, especially with single-notes. The grind is thick and smooth, and single notes will sustain and sing. Because this humbucker is so strong, it’s ideal for coil-tapping. This will leave the single-coil pickup strong enough to play well with others. Best used in a bridge position, the High Output Humbucker will sound great and have a warm, round pick attack.
Our manufacturing process allows us to achieve unparalleled quality control. High Output Humbuckers consist of USA-Made bobbins, baseplates, magnets, and wire. We wind each pickup by hand, one at a time. Each pickup is wound using our proprietary “Sectioning” technique. This gives the pickup a sweet, clear tone.
We assemble each pickup one at a time, by hand. This allows us to achieve unbeatable attention to detail. Finally, we wax-pot the pickup to preserve the pickup and prevent microphonics.

Hey Eric, no not at all 335's are particularly brighter-sounding guitars (on average). If you're looking for the thickest, most powerful humbucker tone while still retaining a touch of vintage and classic tone, these pickups will sound great.
Ok. So is there a fralin humbucker that compares to the SD Distortion?
-
Q Ok. So is there a fralin humbucker that compares to the SD Distortion?A
Hey David, not really - we stay in the Vintage-voiced realm of pickups and don't offer any super-distortion or super high-output models. That said, our High Output will get you close. It will sound a bit better clean as well.
Is the high output hum bucker similar to the Seymour Duncan distortion hum bucker?
-
Q Is the high output hum bucker similar to the Seymour Duncan distortion hum bucker?A
Hey David, it has a similar output, but will sound a bit more traditional and vintage than the Seymour Duncan model, which will sound way more aggressive.

Q will these pickups fit a Godin Radiator (newer model)A
Hey William, if you have standard-sized humbuckers, these will drop right in.
I’m looking for a gold humbucker cover for the High Output humbucker but in the covers section of the website it is empty but you have the option to purchase a cover with the pickup itself, where can I buy a gold cover by itself. Thanks.

Bought mine a while ago. Genuinely great tone, and even better, the customer service is amazing.
I initially believed a mistake was made with my order, I was wrong. Even so, I spoke with Lindy and he was super polite, friendly, and beyond helpful.
Tone is subjective, but care for your customers is objectively great.
The amount of clarity you get compared with the amount of grind on these pickups is unmatched. This is the way high gain should sound. I love them on my Gibson Hawk and Les Paul so much that I’m getting Fralin single coils for all my Fenders!
Incredible humbucker!
I am now installing these on all of my guitars!
Can’t live without the high output Fralins!
They F…….Rock!
JP
I use it in combination with the Blues Special. It is high-powered but well balanced and sounds great. The coil split is perfect and it’s my favorite in recent years.
Installed a HO humbucker in my 1988 V90 flying V single. Very pleased with the look of the zebra bobbins, and the tone is incredible!
Thanks for the tone guys!
Incredible pickup! I bought a HSS set with High output bridge humbucker and High output single coils to my American made Charvel So Cal. All I can say is that these pickups blew me away. PERFECT HSS set.
Very well balanced and amazing tone in every position. And don’t let the “high output” thing fool you. They are very responsive pickups with great dinamics.
Have several Gibsons with your pick ups they are great sounding. I really like the new Alnico V magnet in the High Output models your now making. I do have a set of pure PAF in my Flying V . Im just now having a set to have my neck out of phase ive had the bobbin flipped already. I dig how it looks & will like it even more once its really out of phase. Timothy Linneman
I like them. I had to drill and enlarge the hole between the pickup cavity and the back cavity to let both 4-wire cables through. They sound good and it’s pretty cool to be able to split coils or switch to parallel.
I just got the Fralin HO humbucker with AL2 customized for my PRS SAS. They are exactly what I was looking for. A very thick beefy sounding pickup with a lot of overtones. I am finally using my bridge HB more as it is less twangy and less glassy. I am very happy with these pickups.
I am more than pleased by the character and versatility of those pickups.
My high expectations were shattered when I heard those pickups in my guitar for the first time.
My guitar is now distinctly alive in all 6 configurations.
Congratulations to Lindy!
